why aren't ponytails called ponytails? Are they manes? Or just described but not named (the Voldemort of shifter almost p0rn)? I've never seen the resulting hair appendage named. They just talk about it being tied back with the manly leather thingy.

It seems that this may be the romance genre, but what is shifter? People who turn into animals/paranormal creatures. Oh my god. This is funny because I just thought your thread title was a typo of some kind because I didn't get what "shifter" had to do with almost porn books. I just figured you were talking about "bodice ripper" type historical romances. I don't get around very much:)

Do these people turn into animals for sex with humans? Like...uhhhh...bestiality? Tell me it's not that.
(I only opened this thread because I couldn't figure out what the heck was up with the title. I think I'm about to be sorry I did.)

I learn so much here.
I just found out about furries. Now I know about shifters.

Gay porn is much better. Especially when ropes are involved.

I recently explored into alien erotica with Cari Silverwood Preyfinder series, it was eye opening, and made sense that all life forms are still basically the same, except for gods, gods have more appendages

sharlag Since you linked it I must ask, have you read that one? I'm all for shifters and polyamory but that plot seems a little too much for me. Was it any good? Ya know, by the standards of the genre? Also, how do you feel about Lora Leigh and her Breeds series? They don't shift but have animal characteristics at times.

I sheepishly admit that I have standards in this genre and laugh at certain ones based on those synopses. I haven't read Lora Leigh - I'll search her on Amazon.

LOL! I didn't know what you meant either. And reading the first few posts made me even more confused! I understood almost p0rn, but not shifter. Now I get it!
I can't remember what the title was or who the author was, but I was browsing the book selection at Walmart looking for something interesting to read. All I remember of it was it was about wolves. I love wolves. So I bought it. And soon realized it wasn't what I thought it was.
I finished the book. Thought about looking for more in the series. This book was not the first in the series. And it piqued my interest. But alas, I've since forgotten all about it until this thread. It was set on a ski resort I think. They mentioned red wolves and grey wolves. And maybe coyotes? There was murder, mayhem, s e x, and skiing! If anyone could give me the name of the book, or the author...I'd really appreciate it! I think I sold the book in a garage sale a couple of years ago!

Not noticed in the shifter genre, but the almost-p0rn genre - everything is either amble or throbs. EVERYTHING. I've got plenty of things that are ample and throbbing and trust me, they are NOT sexy. ^^^this made me LOL!!!
