I posted a couple of weeks ago about the house hunt, DH being called into the office and told he could be let go, and I ended up needing to go to the dentist. All of which were jacking up my stress level to defcon 9.
We decided to proceed with the approval on the house, so if nothing else so we'd know if we were qualified. We found out this morning that we're a go. 10 years of blood, sweat, tears and more money than I want to think about, and we're finally approved. I feel like Rocky at the top of the steps. We did it!
DH's job situation remains in limbo. The crux of it is, his boss didn't have a problem until he needed to have a problem. One of their clients is merging with another company, there are some issues with the merger and well, $&*t rolls downhill. If the merger goes south, then they'll need to lay people off due to lack of work. If they can work it out, then work will pick back up again. We've agreed to ride it out but I've been on him to get out his resume.
He did contact the project manager who assured him she had no issues with his work, and he has stepped up his game. But we both feel this is to a certain extent out of his control. This will be settled by May, so at least we'll know soon if something is going to happen.
We have to be out of our current home by the end of May. If we don't find anything we like in the next 2 weeks house wise then it's not meant to be, and we'll go into an apartment for 6 months. That gets us over the hump at DH's job and we know we're qualified at least right now.
Just keep swimming!

Oh, so much better to find out all of this before you've found a house & closed on it!

I like your attitude. Congratulations - how awesome to know you can buy a house if you choose.

Congratulations on qualifying for a house! I hope things settle out with your DH's job and you feel more secure in putting in an offer down the road. It will happen, but that doesn't make the waiting any easier.

I don't think that is what she is saying. It sounds to me that if they find a house in the next two weeks, they are putting in an offer. That's what I'm saying. It's spring break for us this week and was for other schools in the area last week. nothing has been listed and the one house that did come up went in 24 hours. My goal was to get to today and see if we even qualified. If we didn't then we'd have spent the weekend looking into plan B. Now, the plan is to look but with a deadline. Yes, it's a risk with DH's job situation, but with the lack of inventory at the moment we're just going to celebrate the approval and see what comes. At least for the weekend. I'm sure on Monday I'll be back to defcon 9.
