Last night, a bomb and gun threat was posted on a 12 year old girl's FB account (it was later revealed that someone else used her account to post it). It was vague enough but specific enough to close every school in my kids' district. That was a lovely phone call to get at 4:30am.
And then, this afternoon, a note was found in a different school district's high school (same city) saying a bomb will go off at 2:50 (dismissal time for the high school). Both middle school and high school were dismissed early.
People are posting all kinds of angry stuff along with misinformation, etc on two of the local news reporting sites. Some parents don't want to send their kids to school tomorrow because of the threat of shooting kids as they walked up to the school.
All I can think is this crap is basically terrorism. The threats are made to scare people into closing the schools, giving them a free day off. If school is open tomorrow, I will send my kids because hell if I'm going to let some punk ass kid scare me and my kids away from their education. People who are planning on shooting up or blowing up a school rarely post a threat about it.

I feel pretty confident they'll get busted doing it. Punishment will be HARSH. And yes, they are dill holes.

While I understand that the public isn't privy to punishments handed out to students, it would go a long way toward making the community feel safer if the schools would at least state that the perpetrator had been expelled. I also believe that the fact that it was a threat should not be reported on television - don't need to give these idiots the attention they are looking for

While the purpose of terror is to terrorise (Carlos Marighella), and I certainly understand that this is frghtening, it is not terrorism, but sheer stupidity, most likely from local kids.

Unfortunately I think it's just the time of year. This happened 2 years ago around here. Pretty much every school in our county and one or two outside it were hit with bomb threats. Starting around this time (maybe a bit later). Our high school was hit twice. It was very frustrating and scary and the same time. They never really found who was responsible for all of them. Except at my son's school. They found who it was and he was expelled I think for the next year.

I would not say terrorism in the largess sense of the word. It's more likely some special snowflake entitled brat who thought it would be funny or didn't want to go to school.
Most of the dire terroristic real actions never have warnings.
