So my DD's friends are all looking at $400 dresses from bridal shops. Of course my DD now can't find anything off the rack at Macy's or Penny's because she says they are too similar to all her previous homecoming /prom dresses. I'm not paying that much for a prom dress, nor will I be ok with letting her spend that so...
A while ago someone had posted about finding a dress for an event and posted this Rent the Runway site.
Has anyone's DD done this for prom? I'm thinking she could get a really really nice dress for a $100 or so rental rather than spending $400 on a dress she wears once anyway.
Can the Peas please share what's the good, bad and tips about this site?

We used it for my DD's 8th grade formal and it was great. I would say the key to success is having a pretty "standard" body type so fit isn't a problem.

I've used it and had a good experience, but I wouldn't do my daughter's prom dress there because she is both picky and hard to fit. If your daughter generally has a pretty easy time finding clothes that fit, and she's not stuck on one particular look, I would think she could find something really nice.

DD has used RTR for several years now. She's older and uses it for weddings and other special events. My only complaint is that it wasn't around when I was paying out big bucks for prom and cotillion dresses (3 per year).
