I have birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and want to buy some scrappy stuff. Are there any LSS left?
The last one I knew of was Scrapbooks Too in Bloomington.
I really miss all my LSS - Mementos in Waconia, Too in Bloomington, Artsy Tartsy in Plymouth, Scrapbook Shop on Snelling, Binding Memories, just to name a few.
I am thinking about a jaunt to Crafts Direct, but would like to see if I can find an independent store. Or is Hobby Lobby in Woodbury worth an hour plus drive?

There is still an Anchor Paper in Roseville but it's small. Someone said that there is one in Plymouth too but I haven't been over that way in years. Crafts Direct probably has the most stuff and they are independently owned, not a chain. Pine City Scrapbook Co is a nice store, it's about an hour north of the Twin Cities. If you catch the right weekend you can shop at The Silver Bullet studio in Apple Valley. Www.heartandsoulllcmn.com hosts crops and classes there and has a small but nice selection of scrapping and stamping supplies available when she's there. I've read there is a newer store in Minneapolis but I haven't ever been there. Scrapbooks Too changed their name to The Glitter Cottage and moved to Belle Plaine a few months ago but that's way too far for me to make a casual trip over. Whether Hobby Lobby is worth it or not depends on what you're looking for. I've been to other Hobby Lobby stores that seemed to have a lot more than this one does. They have a lot of stuff under their house brands (Paper Studio, etc.) but not so much as far as name brand things. It's a brand new store though so I keep hoping their scrapping department will improve. They have an okay selection of tools and lots of alterable stuff if you're into that. If you go, be sure to print out a coupon or download their app to get the coupons on your phone. There is a big JoAnn ETC in Woodbury and a Michael's too and they're all within 15 minutes of each other so if you go to one you might as well hit them all. Hope this helps!

There is one in Jordan and the one in Belle Plaine. Both are a bit of a drive from the cities. If you are gonna drive that far...drive to northwest Iowa (only about 3.5 hours from the cities) LOL My store is worth the drive!! Bigger than any LSS in the cities and more selection than Archivers. Sorry, there aren't any other stores in the cities. I used to live there about 15 years ago and it was great! lots of stores around!

You should!! we are about 45 minutes away from Sioux Falls, and that's a nice weekend trip. Especially now, SF just got a brand new entertainment center and lots of new acts/concerts are coming to town. we host a weekend retreat twice a year (late October and late April) from 1pm Friday - 3pm Sunday. We've had people drive from Des Moines before and that's about 4 hours too. We treat our ladies awesome, plus we do a late night run to the store on Friday night.

Anchor paper in Plymouth isn't like it used to be. They used to be in the huge warehouse part, but moved I'd say 2-3 yrs ago to the smaller section. There at most now 6 rows of items. I used to love going there to look at all the stamps, now it's probably 1.5 rows total. I'm 10 min from there buy no longer waste my time going there unfortunately

I was so excited when I moved here two years ago, partly because there were all these Archivers stores! There wasn't a single scrapbook store left back in Nashville, other than Michaels and JoAnns. I came up here and had 6 within a 20 minute drive! Now they are all gone too.

Do you remember the name & location of the store?

Scrapperlady:
The store I think you are talking about is Crafter's Haven in Minneapolis. It is a nice little store and the owner (Drucie (sp?)) is surely very nice, and seems to know her stuff. She told me that if there was ever anything I wanted, that she did not carry, that she could look into getting it (there are certainly quantity issues with how much she can get....) She has a lot of dies and stamps and is very crafty! I stop when I can.
Word has it another HOB LOB is going in, in Maplewood, which is closer to me. Not sure it will do well, and certainly feel for the Michael's that is literally across the street from it, but will see. It supposedly opens 8/26/14.

Crafts Direct in St Cloud has tons of great scrapbooking supplies. It's about an hour from the northwest suburbs of Maple Grove/Brooklyn Park.

The Pine City store is WELL worth the drive. I was just there a few weeks ago and they had lots of new stock. Tons of new paper lines. I had my ACOT cart pulled up and got almost everything on my list. Except the Theresa Collins papers. For some reason, I don't think I found any of the new TC papers.
I also went to the Glitter Cottage in Belle Plain. She has TONS of stamps. I didn't see many new paper lines, but I don't know that it's where her focus is. There were a lot of art supplies for altered projects. And she was expecting an order of dies.

I decided to go to Crafts Direct on Saturday, but made the mistake of telling DH, so ended up with him and DS2 with me. I warned them that I wanted to take my time, but I had not even made it to the end of the scrappy stuff, when they showed up ready to go. Grr - so I sent them on a hunt for something for SIL (his sister) and quick finished up.
My total was 118.00, but after my points and coupons, I only spent 73.00!
I do really love that store and am looking forward to the anniversary sale.
BTW, they closed the clearance center and are making it into a seasonal shop, starting with Halloween and Fall.

I *REALLY* wanted to go last Friday because DH was out of town on a fishing trip so it would have been a great time to go, but my BFF had her grandson coming for the weekend at the last minute so the plan was squashed. When is the anniversary sale? Maybe it will be worth it for me to wait to go until then, and maybe they will have some of the new collections from Doodlebug and Simple Stories in. I had to console myself with a trip to Tuesday Morning yesterday instead. Crafts Direct is definitely way more fun though.

I think it is the month of September. I saw something at the store, but can't remember for certain, but it should be soon. The paper wasn't on sale, so I didn't look super close at it and I had to hurry out, but I did see some doodlebug on an end.

Thanks for the info, I'll check their website over the next couple weeks so I don't miss it. I missed their big Crazy Days sale a few weeks ago and I've been itching to go ever since.

I saw an ad in the paper last week for a scrapbook store in Ramsey. It said it is behind Coburn's on Hwy 10. The name of it is Dollar Cents. Looks like it is a dollar store with a lot of scrapbook stuff. So who knows what or how new of product they have. I might check it out though sometime.
