What color exterior shutters do prefer on a yellow house?

White or the matching blue from the roof.

What about a really dark blackish-blue color? I think black is pretty standard, but I saw a house not too long ago with a really deep midnight blue-almost black shutters and it was really pretty.

We have white shutters. If you don't want white, the idea of matching the roof would look nice as well.

I love that color yellow and I'd probably do white shutters--so crisp and clean.

We had a house in our old neighborhood that was yellow with slate blue shutters and door. It was quite charming.

Yellow Houses

We had a blue that was almost periwinkle on a light yellow house. It looked cute.

We have teal shutters and a orangy-red doors.  I LOVE it!

Slate blue.  Love blue and yellow together. 

I have a yellow house with white shutters and white trim & front door. We just bought it back in April, and it's on the list to paint it when we redo the roof in a few years. I don't hate the color combo, but I think I like more contrast. I don't think we will keep the yellow long term, but for now, since we are probably 3 or so years out from replacing the roof, I am contemplating painting the front door something bright like a robin's egg blue and keeping the shutters white or possibly painting them black. I also like some shades of green, but it's tricky to find a good match with the yellow, so that may be more trouble than it's worth for just a few years. Again, I never would have chosen yellow, but the house is a Dutch colonial, so it fits the style.

My first thought was white, but after looking at that link with all the pictures.... I say paint the door red and the shutters a dark charcoal grey or blue to compliment the roof.
