Last night I had this feeling that I needed to check in here and found out that people were looking for me. I did a long reply on another thread about what all had been going on with me since August. Click Here if you want to read about it. So what did I miss while I was away?

christine58 retirement looks really good, but I am very far away from it. If I had not taken a couple of breaks I would be finishing my 28th year, but due to the breaks I am finishing year 18 right now. I worry about how I am going to make it to retirement with how the demands of the job keep increasing every year. It seems that TPTB do not realize that teachers are humans and can only do so much.

Welcome back from another teacher Pea! I totally understand what you're saying. I have been facing burnout – SERIOUS burnout-- all year long. It is not the kids. But administrators and the district keep piling more and more work on us that must be done outside of the classroom on our own time. And the expectations in the classroom are ridiculous! I read your post on the other thread and I'm glad you are cutting back and taking more time for yourself!

katybee my kids are wonderful! They are why I go to work each day and why I haven't looked more closely at trying to get a job for a virtual school.

I've been having an affair w/everyone's husband. Seriously, it seems like we have a lot of sadness and struggle on the board lately. Sad stuff. Welcome back and I'm off to read your update.

Welcome back! I'm so sorry to hear about your heart ailments. I hope your DH is hanging in there, too. It's tough to watch your spouse go through serious health scares.

So glad to see you back, and so sad to hear of your troubles.
One of the worst things you missed was our dear Aunt Kathy passing away. Also, we lost Phoebe. Rough times.

If you happen to qualify for disability, you might be able to retire. I hear you about the stress....

If your health problems continue, you might be eligible for medical retirement. Our state has that as part of the teachers retirement program. You've really been through it. Take care.

We are glad you are back and ok. Sorry you've had so much stuff. I retired a year ago and it is really nice. I didn't plan it but the stress pushed me over the edge. I am totally spoiled and relaxed now! But also much older than you!

TankTop I am so sorry to hear about Kathy and Phoebe! Kathy and I had communicated some because my dh and I had lived in Minot, ND for 4 years in the late 80s and early 90s. It is always so sad when we lose a pea and here we lost 2.
