NoBowl linkThis seems fabulous, but I have four cats. That means filling 20 mice and cleaning every day. Finding them too? The cats in my house are GIANT and it seems like we're always feeding them. Still...

Really neat idea, but, man, what a ton of work!

I'm just envisioning food getting overlooked in random places I'm unaware of and the dog getting to it first.

Or, you could go to Amazon and search for cat treat dispensers. Putting it in the mice thing is cute, but a lot of dispensers allow you to adjust how much comes out based on the size of the kibble. (sorry, didn't mean to put a damper on your post.)
I've used dog treat dispensers to feed my dogs for years. Some love it, others are not interested, but right now Lacey loves her IQ Ball. That's how she gets most of her dry food for the day. There are similar dispensers that hold more, but she just looked at me funny when I put it down. I think she likes the IQ Ball best.
Hiding it, though, that's a new twist and a cool idea.

I just see a lot of food ending up all over the floor in my house.

I don't have a cat but that seems like a good idea (for the cat, maybe not the human).
As an aside- when will people figure out that an up-view is *never* a flattering angle on anyone. A down-view is 100X more flattering. /aside over

It sounds like a neat idea, but I'm pretty sure my Beagle would get to it way before my cat ever would.

My cats make a huge mess eating from a bowl. I can't imagine the mess from feeding them in this manner.
With 2 dogs and 2 cats, I spend a large amount of time vacuuming. I certainly don't want to have to vacuum under the darned furniture multiple times a day, too.

I don't have a cat, so please excuse my ignorance. Is "scarf and barf" a phrase you cat people commonly use?

I like the idea and I think it would be good for the right cat. This would have been perfect for my cat Millie (now deceased) as she was very into play and very food motivated and I think this would have kept her entertained and fed. My current cat...not so much. If I used this system Angelique would starve! She has very little interest in food already and if she had to look for it herself, I doubt she'd be bothered.

I don't have a cat, so please excuse my ignorance. Is "scarf and barf" a phrase you cat people commonly use? Yeah, for some cats it is. And some dogs, too. Every once in a while, you get a creature that scarfs their food so fast, they end up barfing it up. When you get a critter like that, you have to do 2 things: 1) Slow down their intake 2) Teach them that they will not starve between meals It's not always easy. A slow feeder is the best way to get them to learn their "I'm full" signal. I like This Feeder for cats. It can also be loaded with wet food, but is more a hassle to clean up. L
