When I absolutely HATE dresses and I'm fat?
My BFF's DD is getting married in June, evening wedding. I started looking today and I just can't dress myself.
Plus I'm tall and I don't wear heels. Cute dresses look like crap on me even if I did like dresses. I have big upper arms even when I was thin they were bigger than normal.
I wear a 16, little boobs, big belly.
Help?!?!

What about a pant and matching sleeveless top? Add some statement jewelry I can't link you to anything but my MIL wore a pantsuit to my wedding and she looked gorgeous

I wouldn't go with a sleeveless top, but I do think flowy pants and top (maybe with a soft, fancy jacket over the top) would be nice.
You have lots of time for looking - always good to start early to find something you love.

How formal is the wedding? Even an evening wedding can be just dressy/semi-formal around here. If that's the case, maybe something like this, with a big statement necklace: Cocktail pants suitAs a fellow bigger girl, I wouldn't even worry about your arms being out - truly, no one cares any more. Another option would be a dressy tunic with very slim pants and strappy flat sandals.

There was a black and white one in the suggestion that would be look sharp, too.

I would definitely wear pants and try to find a really lightweight tunic length cardigan or a poncho type wrap over a dressy top. You can totally look very dressy without wearing a dress! Try browsing at stores like Chicos.

Gosh, those outfits linked wouldn't ever work for this short girl. The tops would be dresses on me.

I like this a lot too but I worry about being hot. I get hot very easily. I don't know if I would want to take the jacket off but I guess it wouldn't matter at the reception.

I despise dresses. Always have and always will. I went to an evening wedding last June and wore a nice pair of black dress pants, a pink top and I had a white shrug in case I got chilly. Oh, and I wore black flip flops to cap it all off. I honestly did not feel under-dressed at all.

I think the outfits posted so far are cute....
I would suggest that with pants you need a little heel... not high but something to make the outfit look dressier.

Black Capri dress pants and a sleeveless silk blouse, hopefully a fancy-ish one. I'd try for a black wedge heel.

I know you said you didn't like dresses, but if you want to try one, I highly recommend Kiyonna dresses. I am 5'10 and size 18, long waisted too. Their dresses are so flattering. I just bought this sweetheart wrap, and it's easily the best piece of clothing I ever bought. It's heavy enough to not show every lump and bump, but light enough that you won't be sweltering. www.kiyonna.com/plus-size-clothing/Dresses/11112202Wrap dress![](http://www.kiyonna.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/midi-wrap-dress-plus-size-sweetheart4_304x504.jpg)

You definitely can wear a dress. Look for one that has draping across the midsection, as the Kiyonna one does. I actually wore a long dress for my daughter's wedding last year, and it was very flattering. I wore one similar to this, and it was gorgeous: dressOr this: 2nd dressI bought my dress at Macy's, and they had a few really good options. I was a size 14 at the time, and my weight was primarily in my belly so I know exactly what you mean. I know the two listed above are long, but you get the idea of the draping I hope.

Try the Aussie store TS 14 plus They ship international and specialize in sizes 14-26 Lots of lovely layering pieces Cute clothing... I just played around to see what the cost of shipping to the US... and apparently its free! In fact because they waived the GST.. I assume some sort of tax.. the price went down after I entered a couple of things. I put two nice tops in my Cart and the US cost would have been around $100. If I spent another 50AUD I could have saved $50.. so you could get about 3 tops for $100. If the quality is good ... great prices. I would love to know how long the shipping takes. Thanks for sharing... camcas

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sure there will be something out there for me and I'm not opposed to a slight heel to dress things up. I have the jewelry covered so no problem there.

That dress that RainyDayWoman posted is exactly what I was thinking of. I tried on a dress in a store a few months ago and it looked horrible on me. The sales girl brought me a dress very similar to this one and I turned my nose up. She asked me to trust her and try it on and it looked great. I am 5'5" and chunky with a big chest. It was incredibly flattering. I am planning to wear it to a wedding this summer (the bride wants everyone in black or grey) and adding color through a wrap and jewelry.
