My husband gave me an Ikea sit/stand desk for an anniversary/valentines gift and I finally found the time to put together. I work from home at a computer all day and also use for personal. Not new to using a standing desk --- hacked a regular desk with bed risers and have been doing that for almost 3 years. I struggled with the hack because I am 5'10" and getting to the proper height was difficult using premade stuff. The difference now is I can adjust as needed for different footwear (or barefoot!). It doesn't take much of a difference in height to mess up the angle of your wrists and aggravate carpal tunnel. Anyone else using one and loving or hating it? Are you curious about it? Sitting is the new smoking!

They're all the rage among the administrators at my school.
My back bothers me if I stand for too long, so those desks don't interest me at all!

My coworker bought one. At her last job she walked a lot so sitting was new for her. She loves it and stands almost all day long.
My cousin has a treadmill desk and walks thousands of miles a year! She loves hers also!

I had one for a while at a previous job and loved it. Sadly my current job is a non profit, so no splurge for new furniture. In my crafty space/desk at home my desk raised using bed risers. I'm short so it works perfect for me.
I'm thinking of purchasing a ball chair to use at work. Not sure how well it would go over but if I purchase it myself what can they say, right?

I hurt my back last year and had to stand at work for a couple of weeks. I had to put my phone and keyboard etc on some cardboard boxes. My boss said she would ask if we could get sit/stand desks for those who want them but they weren't approved. I'd love one of those treadmill desks! I priced them when I hurt my back. No way would work pay for them.

I would love one. My scrapping/crafty table is on risers, and I love it. I much prefer standing to sitting. I'd like to try a treadmill desk before I committed to buying one.

I've used one when one of my colleagues was away and quite liked it, but I'm certainly not willing to fork out that kind of money.

I have a standing-height computer cart that serves as my desk in my classroom. It's a big no-no to ever be sitting down in the teacher culture in my school (and god forbid an administrator sees you sitting) but I still need to use my computer to take attendance, display things on the smart board, enter performance grades, etc. I also like that I can roll it out of the way as needed - space is at a premium when you have classes of 60 or more, as I do.

We got some in at work, I tried it, but I have too much desk stuff that on these particular desks, there is not enough room for me to work. And, I'm up and down all the time, I prefer to sit. Ha! There are about half the office that uses them, they like them.

I built my scrapbook table for standing since standing at a regular height table made my back hurt but when I'm doing something intricate like fussy cutting I like to sit... Also my feet do get tired. I can't imagine standing for 8 hours at work, do you get used to it? What are the benefits?
One of DH coworkers has a standing desk and I think they had to buy taller cubicle walls because when she was at her desk she was staring over the fake wall right at DH.
