CNA/CMA is a very short program (my DD did it in high school) LPN is a one year program RN (without the BSN) is a two-year program
i think it's wonderful that options other than a 4 year degree are being presented
we are so damn focused on that bachelor's degree

Depending on your area, railroad engineer or conductor. The money is really good.

I did survey drafting for a Civil Engineering/Land Surveyor for 11 years and it was a job I loved. I left about 1 1/2 years ago as things were slow and now because of that experience I review Subdivision plats for the City. I had a 2 year degree and a certificate in drafting. I started in Mechanical and moved to survey drafting. Other ideas: Survey Instrument Man/Woman, Survey Crew Chief GIS Mapper Title Abstractor

My friend's DH is a plumber. He (Joe) tells this story.... Lawyer calls him to fix something at his house on a Sunday. Joe: Ok, I can come out but that's an extra charge for Sunday. Lawyer: Ok, I'll pay it. Joe goes to the guy's home and is there for just over 3 hours. Joe hands him a bill for $450 for the parts and labor - mostly labor mind you because it is a Sunday after all.
Lawyer: $450?! Are you kidding me? I'm a lawyer and I don't charge that by the hour. Joe: I didn't either when I was a lawyer.
He swears this is a true story.

An AAS Degree in Electrical Technology. There are many positions in my electrical utility company you need this degree to move ahead. A co-worker completed her degree last year, and was just accepted into a position that starts at just under $40/hr. So now I'm contemplating it! I just don't know if I can do 2 more years of school.

My dd is just finishing a two year Corrections program that would allow her to be a border crossing guard, correctional facility guard, bylaw officer, or sherif (different type of career in Canada than US).

Does being a paralegal require a four-year degree? I kind of thought it was a certificate, but I don't know for sure. My friend is a paralegal and I don't think she has a bachelor's degree.
I did think a dental hygienist was equivalent to a four-year college degree. I know they do a dental assistant program at our community college, and those dental assistants have some pretty sophisticated training, too.

In WI there are dental assistant programs that are completed over 10 Saturday courses. I recommended them to a few of my voc rehab participants.

Have you contacted applied technology colleges? I know you said you contacted community colleges. I'm not sure if they are the same in your area. Here are a couple of ideas linklink
