Yes, Eastern bluebirds, Chickadees, and Blue jays.  I think right now we just have Chickadees but we have had the others in the past. My parents have Johnny and Jenny wren that have babies in a bird house every year on their porch. It's actually a decorative bird house that mom just had sitting on a table. Well, Johnny and Jenny took it over several years ago and come back every year. It's funny they build in the house on the table. I get updates all of the time on the birds. LOL! |

While I love birds, I do my best to discourage it right near our house. We have a bird dog and have witnessed him patiently waiting below too many nests in the past.  |

We have a pond with a little island in it. For the past 6 years a pair of Canadian geese put their nest on the island. Yesterday 6 goslings hatched. It's amazing how quickly they are in the water and swimming around. In the evening the parents brought all 6 babies up to the house...almost like "look at what we have!". The babies are precious of course but we try not to get too attached. Let's just say the survival rate isn't too good. Once the babies are little bit bigger, they leave our pond and go back to the lake across the street from us.

At my old house I had a small covered "porch" at the front door and every year there were baby robins in a nest on one of the front "pillars". They were so cute and I got some great pics with my 70-200 lens but the momma and daddy robins would swoop in and chirp in a slightly threatening manner at anyone using that door. We would just go around to the side door. Sadly last year my house was for sale so as soon as I noticed them trying to build a nest I moved it. I felt awful.

Last year our neighbor had a nest in a rubber rain boot with silk flowers in it that she had hanging on the front door as a decoration. No one could go in or out of that door for weeks!

I have had robins and northeastern blue birds in the past. So interesting to watch them grow up.

We have hummingbirds for two years. It was amazing! She built a nest on lighting wire and the eggs looked like the Cadberry chocolate eggs, they were tiny! It was so much fun watching them.

We had two doves take up residence in a couple of plants I had on a banister. We watched the babies actually hatched. The cutest part was when the parent birds were trying to get the three little ones to fly. We called the The Dove Family and of course, it's is the scrapbook.

2013 was our year of nests. Robins took the opportunity of an open garage for a weekend to build a nest on a shelf inside our garage. We had to keep the door open until the babies were out on their own, and we were sweating it because we were getting ready to go on vacation and were concerned they wouldn't be ready.
We then went on vacation and took our kayaks with us. We were unpacking the car at our rental house and at the very end of unpacking, we noticed birds flying into my kayak with grass and straw. We felt bad about having to undo all the work they'd done.
We've also had a nest on a birdhouse just set on our deck railing.

I used to raise Cockatiels and Australian Grass Parakeets. I hand raised a lot of them and they were so cute. Right now I have Dove babies in one of my hanging plants on the patio. For the last several years I have had Hummingbird babies right in front of my kitchen window. I have a feeder and they built a nest right next to the feeder in one of my wind chimes. Those babies are so tiny that we can't even see them until they are ready to fledge. I love baby birds.

We've had robins in the eaves of our deck. So cute! This year we have doves in my spice planter on the deck. It's right by the back door, where the dog barks and whines to get in. Doesn't seem to bother them at all. Can't wait for them to hatch!!!

We have a pair of Morning Doves that have come back for several years. Their nest is on top of our patio heater. Thankfully we rarely use it. I love watching the parents trying to push them out of the nest.

Last year a nest was built on my patio. There is a 1 inch lip on the roof of the patio. These birds somehow built this nest on that. It was amazing to watch. It was fun watching the mother bird sit on the next while the father went out to get food for her and the babies after they hatched. I found it interesting how she taught them to fly by demonstrating for them and encouraging them. This drove my dog nuts the whole summer. Dh was going to get rid of the nest but I told him to leave it to see if they would return. Last week they did return. They've been sprucing up the nest. I don't know what kind of birds they are but they are amazing.

there was a red breasted bird that hatched baby birds in our covered patio for years. we would see her building the next in a rectangular box I had in the eaves and a while later, baby bird chirping. then the baby would fly off, we would clean out the box, and the cycle would start again the next year. we had to take the box down when we repainted the patio before we listed the house for sale. I was so sad at the thought that she would come back and not see her box.
