Ok Peas...for years I have read (some of you) raving about drinks at Sonic (ice & sodas, not the food!) & finally I will get the chance to see if it lives up to the hype! We fly to NYC tomorrow but will be in California next week & have already found out when we'll be near one....sooooo...what should we try? What are your favourites?!

Obviously no suggestions for you but just wanted to say have a great time! Thanks! After the scare we had at the weekend with my mum having a stroke (she is due home this afternoon, thank goodness!) we are more grateful than ever just to be going!

Another vote for the cherry limeade, usually I get the diet. Also vanilla diet Coke. I don't eat fast food, but I do like their drinks for a treat every so often. Also, some Sonics have half-price drink happy hour!

I like the slushes. Lemon is my favorite, when I allow myself to have one! Mostly I hit up the one near my office to get a Route 44 Coke Zero. Love their ice.

Cherry limeade is their signature drink so I would suggest starting with that one. I also like "Ocean water" (sprite with coconut) and the lemon berry slush mentioned above.

Another vote for a cherry limeade (or diet CL if you prefer). Food-wise, they're not all that special, but they do a good tator tot, and my current favorites are their fancy hotdogs - the pretzel dogs and the other ones that come on like cheesy parmesan bread or something. The classic Sonic food items are the footlong chili cheese coney dog and tots.

I would echo the cherry limeade (I do the diet version). Also, they have great milkshakes if you feel like splurging. I love the banana cream pie milkshake!

Definitely a Diet Cherry Limeade....that is all I get. Sonic has the "good ice," by the way.

Cherry Limeade. The lemon berry slush is good too.
I think they have the best fast-food onion rings.

I think any drink just tastes better there. Most times I just get a coke. Sometimes I add some cherry. The cherry limeade is also good.
My kids like the blue powerade slushie.
I also think the tater tots are pretty good.

their milkshakes are pretty good too. Ours are 1/2 off after 8:00pm. Not sure if that is a national promotion.
And happy hour for drinks and slushies are 2-4pm

Diet Cranberry Limeade. It's not as sweet as cherry.

I am glad you are still getting to go on your trip. In my opinion Sonic's food is not worth the money. Now their Blackberry Ice Tea is YUMMY you can do it in the unsweetened version too. My daughter likes the peach the best.

I don't like flavors in my sodas, tastes like medicine to me, so I just get plain Lineade, extra limes. I actually like their tots and popcorn chicken.

Cranberry Slush. I had one every day in the last trimester of my pregnancy. It made the baby move and I got a kick out of that. Plus is was delish. I also like the cheese sticks, but I'm not picky.

Some have 99 cent large drinks before 10 AM.
Cherry Limades and great ice are their thing like others have said. But almost any drink is better there. Slushie a and floats are good.
I like to get the mustard cheeseburger without the meat, and the Chicago dog. Sonic condiments and vegetables are usually very fresh.
Eta- guess I need to say Fresh for fast food.

In Texas, I always ordered a diet vanilla cream coke. I have NO idea what the cream was, but it was almost as if they put a squirt of vanilla ice cream in it and then some vanilla flavoring too. LOVED them. Heck, I love their ice...that soft ice is awesome. But, here in VA, they didn't know what the heck I was talking about when I ordered a "Diet Vanilla CREAM coke"...I got a diet vanilla coke. I miss the old days! LOL
