I have a friend who has a son with psychological issues. He was hospitalized last year for months and was doing well for a while, but his meds do not seem to be working anymore. I remember reading about a genetic test yesterday on a thread but can't remember where now. They could really use some help.

It's called pharmacogenomics, not sure if it would be of use to your friend but it's a possibility. The dr orders the test through a 3rd party testing company. I'm not overly familiar with it but I did sit through a lunch with a rep for one of the testing companies.
It's a interesting idea. I'm not sure if it's specific enough to fine tune psych meds.
