I made a card yesterday on which I had created my own paper with stamps. Well, I was having a totally off day because I ended up with lots of areas where ink transferred from the edge of my block onto my paper. Not wanting to just trash it, I was able to trim my piece smaller and hide the worst offenders with my sentiment and 3 Doodlebug brads. I'm happy with how it turned out and glad I didn't give up on it. Once I was cleaning up I stopped to see if I had more of those brads as they were some of my favorite to look at. Turns out I used up all the ones I had. I immediately started looking online for a place to purchase more of them. I found them at a place I've never shopped at before and put them in a cart. Then I thought I should get some of all the other colors since, you know, they are so hard to find. Then I stopped myself - what was I doing?? My whole reason to make cards lately is to "use up" my supplies. Agh! It's so killing me to not go back and complete my purchase. I love Doodlebug embellies but apparently I love collecting them not using them. Does anyone else have this problem with using up supplies?

That is a hard one. I find myself trying to save my favorite stash for my personal projects. But the projects I am most proud of are the cards and mini albums I do for other people (with my favorite stuff). So I guess it all works out in the end. I am still hoarding my old SU white cardstock for my most special cards. I have not found one to replace it that I find equivalent.

Yep. I used to 'save' things for a special project, then one day I reaslised i don't need two of everyting in case I run out. Plus a lot of the things I've been 'saving' just aren't my style any more. I'm on a spending freeze til the end of the year and am trying to decrease my stash.

I keep trying to use up scraps by making cards, but I end up making more scraps when I cut into pieces of paper that I need to make the scraps look good.

I am a hoarder of things that are no longer available or too cute to put on cards that will probable get thrown away. Trying to find a cure for this affliction though. Scraps get used up on charity cards and mini books.

I don't have a problem using up papers or even throughout pieces that are realistically too small to use. I've killed some rub-ons by using the whole sheet on one page, Wilna-style. But I do think this is the first time I've used up an embellishment! And I do already have a problem with Doodlebug, feeling like I have to get every color of a particular product. There's just something about having a "complete" collection That's why I'm thinking with their products I'm more of a collector. And you are right, phoenixcov, I will have to be sure I give that card to someone that isn't going to just throw it out.

I used to hoard so I could use it on "special" projects.
Then one day I thought if this is not special why am I doing it. So everything I make is now considered special and I have no problems using stuff.

My goal is to use something within 2 weeks of purchase. Not the whole package, necessarily, but at least one from the package. This little goal is my way of "justifying" all my purchases.

Yes - I have don't this but try and not do it anymore. I just try and think of an alternative in my stash! Also agree with using it when it comes in the door - I try to do this but can be hard to do
