Doesn't make you gain weight, lose your libido and make you tired all the time? I've been on several in the past and the side effects make me even more depressed Effexor has worked the best for me but after 7 years it isn't working anymore. Scared to go off of it yet also scared to try anything else. Ugh.

I'm sure there are. Effexor worked great for me without any of those side effects. Obviously, it's not the right match for you anymore, but I bet one is. Talk to your doctor. Good luck. I hope you find something that works for you.

Celexa was my miracle drug because the symptoms weren't as bad - still there - but I felt fabulous.

Wellbutrin is wonderful and fits your criteria. One of my sisters has been successful with Wellbutrin too.

I've had no long-term issues with Zoloft. It made me jittery for the first week, and libido was an issue for maybe a month. But no weight gain, and the other side effects subsided.

I responded well to zoloft and never noticed a weight gain or issues with my libido. If anything, I actually lost a few pounds on Zoloft.

I have been on Viibryd for years with zero side effects. There is no generic so it is quite pricey depending on how your insurance will cover it, but the drug reps are generous with samples of this so ask your doctor for some beyond just the starter pack.
Here is another thought - talk to your doctor about adding buspar to your current anti-depressant to see if it makes it effective again.

Pristiq worked fantastically well for me with no side effects.

I quit Lexapro because for me, the side effects were causing more problems then the reason I tried it!

Getting off Effexor is hell.
I take Zoloft (along with lamictal and risperdal). I thought it had sexual side effects but I met the right guy and evidently not. Wellbutrin is supposed to work for that but it wasn't very effective for me.

I've had sexual side effects with every AD I've tried. Right now I'm on Prozac, and was just talking with my dr today about that side of it. He suggested Pristiq or another one that I can't remember--begins with a V? Both are supposed to be much better for sexual effects and weight gain.
I am not in a place right now where I feel I should be messing with my meds, but if things get better, I may try Pristiq.
And if you decide to come off Effexor, please be careful and stay in close contact with your doctor. I plunged into the worst depression of my life trying to switch from Effexor to another AD.

Yeah, getting off Effexor isn't pretty. My ex SO told me it would be better with me not on any medication. I attempted suicide that day. So I quit Effexor cold turkey and you do get brain zaps but they weren't terrible.
I tried PRISTIQ and it is amazing. It totally helps everything. I am not hot any longer, my mood is pretty steady at a 5. No real elated manic episodes this past month. I think it is helping a lot. I take it with 300 mg of Wellbutrin. I don't know what Wellbutrin does to be honest, but it helps. I have been on it for years and years. It has no side effects other than not wanting to smoke and I can live with that seeing how I don't want to smoke either. It's a great drug.
My sex drive has risen after getting off Effexor. That is interesting and it is nice to be able to feel happy again. When I was on Effexor I was just flat. I was kind of devoid of emotion and felt nothing towards anything. (Other than being hot). I can get happy again at times. I can have fun. It's harder but I can.
Good luck! I wish you nothing but happiness!

I have heard good things about Pristiq and Vybriid (sp?), but I don't have any personal experience with them.

I took Zoloft for about 15 years. I started off with the lowest dosage and over time slowly increased to 100mg. After a few years of that, it was no longer working for me. Tried Cymbalta and it did nothing for me and was horrible getting off of it. I started taking Pristiq about 7 years ago and has been a great fit for me. None of the bothersome side effects for me.
It is expensive, even with insurance. My pharmacist tried to get me into a program to get it cheaper, but I didn't meet the criteria. Maybe you could qualify.

Oh Wellbutrin and I did not agree. I felt so horrible on it, mentally and physically. I gave it over 6 months, was hoping for the best, but just did not work for me. I felt worse on it with new symptoms.
Every medication out there has some sort of side effect. It is so hard to find the right antidepressant that continues to work and doesn't effect other things.
Lexapro right now has been good - not great. I have to take it at night because it will make me too tired and when I tried a higher dosage, I got leg cramps for some reason. I think I have had hair loss because of it but I can't prove that.
Prozac and Zoloft both stopped worked after an extended amount of time.
Good Luck.

Zoloft - took it for 9 y ears - great for three years in all respects except for libido, so/so for 3-4 years, and then it stopped working. Last two years i came to believe it was making me feel worse more than it was helping anything. Getting off of it, as per my docs weaning instructions was hell, starting with a 9 DAY LONG migraine that only the advice in a book, TheMood Cure by Julia Ross, helped me to rid myself of. (Taking an amino acid called L-tyrosine is what helped me).
Weaning was a bear and took me 5 months as compared with the easy 12 week process my doc had described. To be fair, I have bizarre reactions to OTC and other meds, as well as to bioidentical hormones (only type I've dared to try) as well as common items and foods.
On Zoloft, if I did not eat almost constantly, I was dizzy as heck. Gained 30 pounds and am having a really tough time getting rid of any of it despite now eating NO sugar, no sodas, and going to gym workouts 3 x a week as well as walking. HOrmones are part of it.
I can't in good conscience recommend Zoloft. I hope you find your answer. We are all so different in terms of what our bodies need, and often we ourselves have to become the experts on that. I do highly recommend a $10 investment in the book I mentioned above. Read the comments on Amazon and see if you want to try it. I read it in the midst of that horrific migraine, desperate as i was for help. It is set up so that you don't have to read the entire book either. Depending on your answers in 4 questionnaires, you are guided to specific chapters. Worked wonders for me. good luck!

OP, I am on Pristiq, which is related to effexor. Effexor wasn't an option for me as it gave me akathesia (feeling like I had to move all the time. . . think restless legs but all over), but I've had no problems with Pristiq. It also works very quickly.
Only down side is that it is VERY expensive. Doable for us because we have good insurance.
If you can get it for a reasonable cost, that's a good one to try.
