Because the Lipton green tea I'm drinking really is quite bland. I have read that it's good for you, but would like to actually entertain my taste buds if possible. Suggestions? Delta Dawn , I remember you mentioning some fancy-sounding tea...

Republic of Tea has many green tea options, as does Teavana. Enjoy finding the best flavor profile for your tastes!

Glad you started this thread. I've had a box of Liptons green tea forever. Even when it was new, it was hard to like the flavor. I can drink it okay now, but I certainly don't get any cravings to drink the stuff! I had never been a tea drinker until I tried that kind, so I thought maybe it was just normal for tea to be kind of gross.

I like Tazo's green tea blend Zen. I am drinking some right now. I'll second this one! Best green tea ever! I love it with a little bit of honey, iced or hot. It has a nice flavor because it has mint and lemongrass (light flavors though) so it's not bland. Lipton is green water to me...

I love green tea that I can get in a Japanese restaurant, but I can never find anything that comes close. I am starting to wonder if I will need to brew up matcha green tea with the little whisk?

Ok I am not a tea expert here by any means and my experience is only with Asian teas but I will see what I can add. sharlag I drink mugicha which is barley (wheat) tea. I put 3 teabags in 3L of water(?) and let it steep overnight. It's pretty bland and I am not sure if it will meet your expectation of wowing you. (It does get rid of constipation, though). I am starting to wonder if I will need to brew up matcha green tea with the little whisk? The kind of tea they serve at a Japanese restaurant is the cheapest tea they can find. Believe me no restaurant on the earth serves decent quality tea. If you want good Japanese tea, you may have to experiment a little. If matcha is what you like, get a whisk and whip up some for yourself. I *love* matcha myself. I love the strong flavour with some kind of sweet (sickly sweet) Japanese candy. If you want regular Japanese ocha (tea) I would go to Chinatown (or your local Japanese grocery store) and buy the most expensive Japanese tea they have. In Japan I was always taught to buy what's most expensive as it's the best quality. (Food wise anyway). There are a couple of types you could try. I like "sencha" which is Japanese tea with some matcha in it. There is also genmaicha which is barley in green tea. I also love oolong tea and jasmine tea. I wish I could be more detailed, but I am in a bit of a pickle right now and need to solve it. I will come back to the thread, though.

I don't really love green tea, but my grocery sent me a free sample of Sweet Leaf Mint & Honey Green Tea, and I am hooked! It is delicious. It's mildly sweet (not like southern "sweet tea"), and the mint is so refreshing. I'm going to have to buy it by the case this summer... And yes, I hate that the free sample got me hooked! I'm a victim of marketing!

I don't drink cold tea, but the folks I work with love the Kirkland brand green tea sold by the case at Costco.

I've gotten a few samplers from David's Tea--12 different kinds in a box, with enough to make 2-3 cups of each kind. I love the lack of commitment! I've found lots I like, and a few I don't--I especially hate anything jasmine, apparently. I've also discovered that I don't like any tea unless I put two sugar cubes in my cup. For me it's kinda like salt in food--activates the flavour or something?

I love the Tazo Zen. I drink sooo much of it. They make K cups, too, and I love to make it over ice. Another really great one is whatever they use as their default green tea bag at Daz Bog. It has a really interesting flavor... almost pineapple-y, but I'm not sure it is. It's whatever they serve you if you order an iced green tea.

Twinnings is my favorite. I fill the tea pot, add 4 tea bags, steep it, then let it sit overnight.

I have consumed quite a bit of green teas. At the local grocery store I get Celestial Seasonings Lemon Jasmine Sleepytime Decaf Green Tea. UPC 70734 51950. I enjoy it a lot.
I also get green teas from www.stashtea.com/collections/tea They have a mini sampler of green tea flavors. I especially like the mint and the mangosteen green tea. The mangosteen was featured in Every Day with Rachael Ray as Best Flavored Green Tea
ETA: I have found that green tea has a SIGNIFICANT effect on my blood sugar. Like lowering it 100 points. My doctor was surprised by that, so I do not think it is typical...at least not to that extent.

The traditional way of making matcha is by adding a bamboo scoop of powdered matcha tea to a tea bowel. You add about 2 tbsp of water and use a whisk to make it frothy.

You would NOT put tea in a soy sauce dish like they did here, but they did it to show you what matcha looks like. (Technicality, I know).

My favorite green tea is Moroccan Mint. I also like Lemon Ginger, but that is an herbal tea rather than a green tea. My very favorite tea is lemon myrtle. I buy it from T2 and it is basically the dried up leaves of a lemon myrtle tree - it looks like someone raked up the leaves in the backyard! But it is so good. I steep it in my infuser jug.

Twinings green tea with mandarin or lemon. Personally, I don't like 'plain' green tea.

Constant Comment comes in a green tea version! You can't get much more flavor than that (plus it's cheap!).

My dad bought a few boxes of plain green tea. I don't care for it plain, so I would brew it with other flavored tea. Worked out great.

If you are drinking bottled green tea be aware that you are also getting added ingredients and not pure green tea. Also, I have read that the health benefits are not as great when the tea is not consumed right away.
