I know I have asked a lot of questions today but I am placing an order from Amazon so wanted to ask this now in case there was something to add to the order...
My 7 year old still has nighttime wetting issues. He wears a pull up but most nights wets through the pull up. I typically use underjams but am wondering if another brand would be better? I have used others in the past but can't remember if they were better or not. I probably would have kept buying them if I had noticed a big difference but who knows. Underjams are cheaper.
I am wondering if there is so that else that I should get for him to wear over the pull-up? It gets old having to wash bedding all of the time and his clothes are soaking wet in the morning. I was thinking of plastic underpants but also don't want him to be u comfortable or feel like a baby. Any suggestions? Thanks!
we just used pullups and a plastic cover that encased the mattress...and no mattress pad. i had one that was wet til 12 and one til 15..... they can learn to strip the sheet and wash it.
My ds9 has some developmental issues and he's still in nite time diapers. He also leaked through the pull ups. I tried the target brand (up & up) nighttime underwear and they are great. He rarely leaks through! They are pretty basic with either blue or green stripes. Hope this helps!
no experience with bed wetting but when my 14yo was a baby he consistently wet thru overnight until we found Diaper Doublers. They're basically like a maxi pad with no adhesive, it goes inside the diaper for extra absorbency, I'd think as long as the pull-up was snug it would work for them as well.
I bought these to place over, or under the sheets, and they are great. Easy to wash and dry, and stand up really well.
You can take the girl out of Australia, but you can't take the Australia out of the girl.

is he in the largest size? If not, size up (yes, I know - there's less in the package but sometimes it helps). We use Goodnites - they fit my kid better than Underjams which equals less leakage - but my current bedwetter is a girl so...ymmv
we also have a plastic cover on the bed under the sheet to protect the mattress and she knows if the night knicker leaks, to strip the bed in the morning.
2/3 of mine are/were bedwetters - one stopped at 12, the other is still wet nightly at 9.5. (the third was dry at night years before she was during the day - I just couldn't win)

Maybe you could make or buy some type of underwear cover made of waterproof PUL (polyurethane lined fabric) to wear over the under jams? Maybe someone on Etsy sells something like that if you don't sew.
Another thought would be to make something to put on the bed made of PUL so you wouldn't have to wash everything. I have a little old dog that occasionally pees or pukes on the bed, so before we went on vacation last time I bought two yards of the stuff and put it on top of all the bedding but under his ratty blankie that he sleeps on. It's wide enough that it almost covers the entire top of my king sized bed. Knock on wood, so far, so good. If something happens, I can pull off the blanket, leave the PUL, and throw down a different blanket or a towel on top. For a kid, I would sew something cozier to sleep on to the other side, maybe flannel, minky or fleece. Keep a couple handy so if one gets wet it can be pulled off and another one thrown on the bed so the kid can go right back to sleep.

I’ve got mountains to climb and I don’t need a backpack full of rocks.
We have a waterproof mattress of but the problem is that he sleeps with several blankets on his bed and they all seem to get wet. Today he had three fleece blankets, four pillows, a comforter and a sheet up there (and he is on the top bunk). Everything smelled like pee. I told him not to take so many blankets up. We will see if that happens.
I'd try another brand and size up. He might just need more of the absorbent material and sizing up will help (as long as he then doesn't leak out of the sides bc they're too big.)
Those mattress covers above are awesome. We have one on his bed & on our bed where he lands incase DS pees if he comes in during the night. It has saved our sanity.
And yeah, limit the blankets. Less to deal with. I've also found fleece intensifies the pee smell for some reason. Ick.
We used Goodnites - which worked well for us. Now instead of using those (DD was starting to get embarrassed about them) we wake her up & take her to the bathroom about midnight-ish. She uses the bathroom and doesn't even remember it. This almost always gets us through the night dry.

My 4th Pea Anniversary - This badge is earned by being awesome. Oh, and being here for more than 4 years.
We dealt with this and what worked for years was an 11pm sleep walking trip to the bathroom for our son. Even if it did't prevent the bedwetting it would empty his bladder enough so that the pull up didn't leak. Also layer the bed with mattress pad, fitted sheet, mattress pad, fitted sheet so a layer can be removed without having to remake the bed. If he doesn't move round much in his sleep those square waterproof washable pads are nice to put on the top layer. And remember you can pay for bedwetting pants with flexible spending accounts.
My DS (7) also still wets...he gets so embarrassed it breaks my heart. Anyway, we use pull-ups and these...best invention ever outside of puddle jumpers at my house!

Fleece really does soak up the smell. DD won't wear jeans ever so she wears a lot of fleece. I wash anything fleece that was peed on with a cup of white vinegar in the drum of the washer and it really helps a lot to get most of the pee smell out.

And you can bleach fleece and it doesn't affect (effect?) the color of it at all. I use fleece blankets for my dog and she always pees on them. I bleach them every week and it hasn't changed the color of them.

I did the same. Way easier that making the bed over & over. I put it on top of the sheet. My 5 y.o. still has it on his bed. Save it for later when someone gets the stomach flu.
Goodnites and size up! Mine used them until 9 years old, I believe and then just stopped. The larger size holds more, we had far fewer wet beds in the larger size.
