I'm so embarrassed to ask this question, or should I say being almost 50 and not knowing this is embarrassing.

Where the heck is the hyman?

As in can a virgin wear the diva cup? Assuming the hyman is still intact?

Years ago ago I used the before childbirth cup, then switched over to the after childbirth cup. I liked using the cup, sung its praises for years.

So I'm a little embarrassed to not know this.

Being a very active girl with horseback riding, gymnastics, bikes, it may be a moot point.

Asked our our pharmacist today and she didn't know.

The hymen is basically a piece of skin surrounding the vaginal opening which makes the opening smaller. It can be broken by lots of things: normal growth, physical activity, tampon useage and/or sexual activity.

If you can menstruate, you can use a menstrual cup. And like a tampon, there is risk that it may break the hymen. It's really up to the user being comfortable and willing to get to know their body.

I know several girls who were virgins when they first started using menstrual cups successfully. I think success with the cup comes down to how comfortable the person is having a bit of a fiddle about 'down there', that they aren't squeamish and that they want to succeed with it.
