Good morning ladies!! I hope you all have an exciting weekend planned!! DH and I had a great date night last night. We tried this little cafe that we'd never be able to take the kids to and enjoyed ourselves. The menu was very limited so I ended up getting a pita pizza with mozzarella and provolone and italian sausage. It came with a salad. I ate it all - the pizza was on an 8" pita. It was SOOO good. I figured out calories as much as I could and logged it in MFP. They had these AMAZING desserts, but I skipped those. Instead when we went to Starbucks for coffee, I got a cake pop. I knew the calories on those and that they would fit better into my calories. So even after both dinner and dessert, I still came in under 1500 calories for the day. Unfortunately, I'm up a lb from last week's weigh in. I still have a couple of days left until weigh in but I'm not sure I'll be able to recover and have a loss...which is ok considering I had an almost 5 lb loss last week. Today I want to work out and just hang out with DH. He has a photo shoot at a cupcake shot this afternoon and I'm going to tag along. Then it's off to pick up the kids. Tomorrow is consumed by soccer. Oh and I need to do some food prep today. UGH! LOL I don't want to!!! Anyway, have a great weekend ladies!!!

Wow, Brandy, sounds like a great time and awesome on the eating. And your amount of loss last week is wonderful!!!! Congrats!
I had my delicious Black Tie Mousse Cake last night and enjoyed EVERY bit. The only sad thing was that it went down too fast. I wished it was a bigger piece. LOL! But later my heart was racing. I don't each much sugar anymore so that took my heart into overdrive. I like how I get those little reminders of how those things are bad for me.
I have no idea what hubby is griling yet this weekend. He grills every Saturday and Sunday. I think I will have him do a bunch of pork chops with my favorite rub so I can have them this week for lunch. Love them for lunches.
And I am home today and hoping to paint and have fun in my studio. It is way too cold and windy to go out. I will have to take the dogs out to play so at some point I will have to bundle up. Hubby took them on their walks this morning. I was a wimp and stayed in the warm house. LOL!
Have a great day everyone!

I'm down 1.4 lbs since my last weigh in on Monday! I realized I'm on track for 5 lbs loss per month.
I have a question about exercise. Sometimes when I walk (that's all I do...) I have more stamina and 'pep'.
Other times, I'm dragging ass.
If you experience this fluctuation, have you figured out why? Is it what you eat beforehand? Time of the month?

I drug myself out of bed and went to 8am kickboxing. Ugh. I'm not a morning person so that class is rough!
Off to shower then a gymnastics competition with oldest dd. Then dh wants to go to his friends house for a BBQ tonight. I don't like meat and hate grilled meat so I am really not looking forward to it! It's potluck so I'll probably take a salad for our dish.
Some NSV... All of my pants are too big. Seriously, I yank up my pants all day long. I wore my favorite pair of Ann Taylor slacks to work the other day and I can pull them up and down without unbuttoning them. But I want to get to goal before I go buy more.

Wow! Congrats on a 5lb weight loss week, Brandy! And 5 lbs per month is also amazing to me, Sharla! I know, from previous attempts at weight loss, that 1/2 lb a week is generally the best I can do. 3-4 lbs a month is typical for me. I think part of that is my height, or lack thereof. If you do those calorie calculators, I need to take in 1000 calories or less to lose weight. That't just not sustainable. That's why exercise is always part of my weight loss and something I need to maintain consistently. I know the current thinking is diet is much more important, but it just doesn't work for me without both... and we all know both are important for many reasons. OrangeTheory Fitness has been my main source of exercise for 2 months now. Anyway, I am 1 lb from my goal for April and it's only April 9! My exercise has been off a little because of the oral surgery I had 3 weeks ago (still on some restrictions). I know this soft diet is why I'm doing better than normal with weight loss. Oddly enough, i am eating more carbs. But, what is also happening is that I am snacking MUCH less. There's no grabbing a handful of almonds because I am not supposed to eat them. Same for my other "I'll just a have a few snack" which is pretzels. My recent snacks have been grapes... and just a few because I want to make the bag last, a banana (can't have more than 1 because of dietary issues), and, sometomes a hard boiled egg. It is supposed to take 3 weeks to make a habit and I am at the 3 week mark. Hoping this is a new habit. The other thing that's changed with my diet is eating at work. I usually work 7pm to 7am. Lots of food around at the hospital and it is usually not healthy food. Not being able to eat what's out (except the donuts! They are soft! LOL) has probably helped a great deal too. I've been bringing my own fruit for the middle of the night. 4 am is a killer for me!

Dd and I are going to the mall today. She needs prom accessories and new jeans. Wish me luck.
It snowed last night, so no run for me today. Hopefully the mall will be some good steps. I will work it. Lol!
DS and hubby are meeting us for dinner after shopping. No idea where we will go, but I plan on eating sensibly. I will also take a purse full of snacks for the shopping.

melissa, that is awesome on your weight loss thus far this month. And hoping your new eating habits stick. And can I ask how tall you are? I always thought you were taller. Don't know why but I am now wondering if you are like me--just 5 feet even. Doesn't take much to put on weight when we are short! But I love it just have to realize I can't eat what taller people can eat. sharlag, I too have never figured it out. Some days I am full of energy. Other days I feel like there is no way I can get out there on my walk. And oddly enough, today I really want to walk but with sustained winds in the 20 mph range and gusts almost 40 mph, it's awful out there plus COLD! Darn it! If anyone figures out the energy vs. exhaustion cause, let us know.

Happy weekend! Last night I went to my coworker's apartment to drop off dinner for her and her husband. They just had a baby last month so I got to have some snuggle time with their little baby girl while we caught up. It was so nice! I had a rush of endorphins from having that sweet infant on my chest. After I left I went home and did a quick workout in our spare bedroom. I was so drained after a long week I couldn't bring myself to go to the gym.
I am just about to drag myself out of bed and go to the gym to get it out of the way. After a shower my husband and I are heading out to get some wood and wood stain for a little diy project I have been wanting to do. I want to build a blanket ladder for our living room. We have two beautiful quilts that I would like to display when we aren't using them instead of just shoving them in our ottoman storage.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
B - Joe O's, milk, sliced bananas, and a handful of dried cranberries L - tuna salad in lettuce wrap, strawberry and kiwis, and pistachios D - spaghetti and meatballs with a mixed green salad S - granola bar and string cheese

I was shocked at the number though I was expecting at least a 1-2 lb drop because my period had just ended and that always works in my favor. But I'd stayed at the same weight (up 1/2 lb, down 1/2 lb) for almost a month so it was nice to see such a big loss. I'm up a lb from that weigh in last week so I'm hoping if I keep my eating in check I can at least break even. Great job on being only a lb from your April goal!! No matter how you got where you are, you're there!!

I find that if I'm tired, I can barely get moving. If I get a good night's sleep and don't have to wait to do my workout, then I get better results. I tend to do better in the summer than during school time because I'm at up 5 every day. By Thursday/Friday, I'm barely functional. LOL I also don't have very good results working out after I've eaten a lot. I tend to do my workouts before eating anything...or if I DO eat, it's just oatmeal. I feel sluggish and blah if I have to go walking or do the elliptical with a lot of food in my gut.

Sounds like you had a great night. The food sound really nummy.
I haven't weighed myself since we moved but I do know that the shorts I had on yesterday is so big on me that I need a belt to hold them up. They were so small for me 4 months ago that I couldn't button them, there was a gap of about 3 inches I couldn't believe it when I put them on yesterday.
I really need to weigh my self to see how much I have lost since I have moved. All my pants are super baggy on me and my tops are so big I had to buy some tank tops to wear under them so my bras don't show.
I really need to buy clothes but I need to get a job first.

I am over 5 feet tall. Not 5'1", but taller than 5 feet 0 inches. 10 lbs on me is usually an entire size. My recent now 6 lb loss (over 5 weeks) shows enough that I got positive comments from the staff at OTF this week.

Hey gals. Good news - I did hit my next milestone this morning! Yay! I also did a little more damage at Macy's after a hair cut, the selection at this particular location was insane!! And lots of good clearance and super sale prices for nicely made items, I will definitely go back there. I had $38 in store credit so ended up only spending another $15 out of pocket. Not too bad. But I am officially CUT OFF from shopping until I absolutely have to again, I am well stocked. Trying this recipe for breakfast for dinner (plus eggs and bacon): thebigmansworld.com/2016/02/12/healthy-fluffy-low-carb-pancakes/

Hello all!
I just got back from shopping. Came home with a new pair of running shoes and new bras. I went and got fitted at. Soma and I am down from a 44 to a 38 bra. Super excited cause I hate my boobs. I also found out I have been wearing the wrong size running shoes. I was fitted for new shoes and boy they feel so much better. I can't wait to actually run tomorrow.
I'm off to watch my son's GF's dance company perform (she is a coach). I really don't want to go especially with the big blow up we had last week but I'm taking the higher road and going. UGH!

Hey everyone! Did a team workout at the gym this morning then met up with one of my bff's from high school at one of the WDW resorts for lunch with her family.
They had a relatively small menu do I got a grilled chicken sandwich. I eat half of the sandwich as is then I eat the protein out of the other half of the sandwich and leave the bread off. As a restaurant strategy it works pretty well for me.
For dessert we split (between 6 people) The Kitchen Sink--8 scoops of ice cream, alllll the toppings, and an entire can of whipped cream. I ate one small bowl with a taste of each kind of ice cream and still ended up with a sugar headache! We didn't come close to finishing it.
Church tomorrow, gym time, and meal prep. Plus detoxing from WAYYY too much sugar this week. Bad habits slipping back in and I need to get them in check.
Have a great weekend everyone!

melissa I am short as well, a tad under 5'. I have had the best success losing weight when doing 5:2 (although until this week haven't been the most diligent with it for awhile) and I think it is partly because it is the only way I can get a decent calorie deficit. I don't believe that all calories are equal and do think my body responds better to certain foods than others but I also think that calories do count as well. That being said, I'm feeling frustrated. Last weekend I gained a few lbs at the hotel. All but one was gone by Wednesday but then Thursday I got my period. I am a compulsive weigher and always weigh at night and morning (I know, I know) and I am higher tonight than last night, even though I was fasting today. Ugh. Hopefully by Monday I'll be back down. I haven't done any exercise since Thursday. My period has been horrible. I typically only have cramps the first day but have still had them today as well as very heavy bleeding. Trying to decide if I should move forward with an ultrasound and possible ablation or if this is just par for the course for a 40/41 year old.

Hi I have been doing really WELL this week and weekend! Yes, it's me saying this.
On Thursday my gal pal and I walked around a scenic and very fun place and there were 2 yes TWO snakes on the way. WTF? I haven't seen a snake 6" from me in a hundred years. Nope, two snakes. My friend decided she would walk on the left after that. Two too many, thanks. Ok great walk, took an hour. I didn't sweat but then again I don't sweat any longer (yes I am repeating myself because heck I am so happy NOT to be hot that I am going to shout out to whomever will see and hear it!!!)
Then Friday my BFF and I walked from her house to the park with the chip trail. That was 2 plus miles. Yay! We both did it. OMG it is only 15C and it is amazing. I want it to stay this temperature forever and ever. Loved our walk.
I worked today. My legs were TIRED. I had two outdoor walks already this week but I AM DETERMINED and we walked AGAIN. I know she didn't want to walk today but I did and she needs it as much as I do. It was 15C again and no sweating. I loved it. It was a wonderful walk. Her daughter came with us and was about 20 paces ahead of us as her daughter has long, long legs and has a long gait. We all did it (and I did NOT want to walk today...my legs were so tired!) but I did it. Yay!
Tonight I want to sleep. I really want some sleep. I am in the middle of a manic episode (ugh) and the superhuman strength and endurance has started. I can't shop which is good. I want to buy I won't. I need to go to bed early tonight because I was up super early this morning (not by choice) and I need a decent night's sleep again.
So that's what I have done!

When I run I head out with a set goal in mind for mileage. It is very difficult for me to determine routes and how long they are while working in a very small town with few routes. I end up zig-zagging back and forth and round and round in the same area. That is boring as all get out. Does anyone know of a better way of doing this? To preplan a route other than driving it? I say that because sometimes I am on trails.

Well, I've had a couple of fairly rough weeks. I stayed the same last week, this week I'm up 0.8lb. I'm ok with it. I know what I've done/not done and my period came yesterday, so I'm sure that's part of it. I'm back on the plan 100% today. My brother and sister left early this morning and the Confirmation is, thankfully, over so life can get back to "normal".
I'm getting groceries today and then meal prepping. Hopefully I'll have some time to get a good walk in and plan my lessons for the week. I'm working toward my next 5 lb goal and I'm about 3ish pounds away. Hopefully pushing a lot of water and keeping on my preplanned menus with some walks will help me get there soon!
Have a happy Sunday, everyone!

I've had almost two weeks of clean, moderate eating and exercise and then DH was admitted to the hospital Friday afternoon (gallbladder surgery with complications). It's been a huge challenge trying to eat well here. I'm amazed at how unhealthy the food choices are in a hospital cafeteria. I've been eating fast food and vending machine fare. I really feel gross and bloated. Hopefully he will discharged today. He feels good and I'll be very happy to be eating at home. It's been a good reminder of how much of an impact poor eating has on me. Here's to healthier days ahead for my family!

Morning all!
DH and I went out Friday night - I did have 2 beers (liquid carbs I know) from our local craft brewery, but I was really good about my dinner choice, asked for no potato and extra veggies. Yum.
Yesterday I participated in a tasting night at a golf course - it was for all their booked weddings for this year/next year. Didn't cost me a thing, and I just had to set up a display and provide a few samples. And I got to eat as well! I avoided the hot giant brie & bread/crackers (yay me) and instead had salad, plus tried some of each of the meats they were offering, plus the yummy veggies they had as well. AND I fought every urge to hit the dessert table.
I'm up .5 from last week's weigh in, but I know its from a couple bad choices earlier in the week, and most likely the alcohol I've had this week too.
Have a great day everybody!

Morning ladies! 2 nights of eating out and even though I made good dinner choices, it's bitten me in the ass and I'm up close to 3 lbs. Last night was a HUGE splurge and I had a full blown gourmet cupcake. DH takes photos for a cupcake place not too far from here and she always gives us cupcakes to go. And she always makes my favorite - German chocolate. I consumed an entire cupcake without guilt because I only get one every couple of years. It was SOOOOO good. And I know it's partially why I'm up almost 3 lbs from last week. A little disappointed in myself because I was .1 lb away from my next mini goal and now I'm 3 lbs away.
I did get in a 35 min walk yesterday with some light jogging added in there a bit. Felt good to be outside again. It's been so cold the last few weeks, that going outside just hasn't been feasible. Hopefully the warmer weather will show up this week.
Have a great Sunday!!

I would bet if you get at least 90-100 oz of water for the next few days, at least 2 of those pounds will be gone by midweek. I'm due to start my period in the next few days, so the scale is at the "playing games" phase of the month for me too - up down up down.

The pancakes I posted sucked. Theyou looked and smelled awesome and the initial flavor seemed good (very sweet), but the texture was gross. That sucks. . I use a recipe from Texan Erin.com. I typically used the 100% whole wheat recipe and sub kefir and plain yogurt for the buttermilk, but she had a protein pancake recipe that is good as well.

Hopefully the warmer weather will show up this week. Have a great Sunday!! Hang in there!! How are you doing on your water? I would bet if you get at least 90-100 oz of water for the next few days, at least 2 of those pounds will be gone by midweek. I'm due to start my period in the next few days, so the scale is at the "playing games" phase of the month for me too - up down up down. I actually mentioned the lack of water drinking to dh yesterday. We've spent a LOT of time in the car the last 4 or 5 days and I haven't been drinking much because of it. I don't have much going on this week so my plan is to pound the water and try to get as close to 100 oz a day as I can!
