I have a friend looking to plan a beach vacation in NC but would like to find one where the dogs would be welcome at least part of the time. If anyone knows of an area like this and can recommend places to stay that are also dog friendly nearby? That would be great. Thanks!

NC has the most dog-friendly beaches I've ever seen. I don't know what the actual laws are but the past two summers we saw dogs everywhere, especially later in the day after it cooled off. The first summer we were in Rodanthe and the second in Nags Head.

I've had my dog out at Ocean Isle Beach. Seemed to be a very dog friendly area.

However, I learned recently that they are not allowed on the beach from mid morning to late afternoon during the peak season. I don't remember the exact hours but there are restrictions.

I believe that myrtle beach allows dogs any time during the off season but during peak season only before 9am and after 5pm.

It's not on the beach but there is a dog resort in NC, in Rutherford County. It's for people who wish to take their pupkins to a place that especially caters to them.

Hmm, I will check it out when we are there next. It would make sense though because I am on the beach early at 7 a.m. every single morning. I don't go out there in the hot sun but LOVE the mornings and so do the local dogs I see all of the time.
