I've shared before that we have a memory foam mattress which we absolutely hate. We didn't do enough research before purchasing, it's too soft and seemingly offers no support. We've shopped off and on for the last 2 years but I'm having a hard time committing. I'm so afraid we're going to make another mistake and have to go through the hassle of returning this huge, bulky thing.
We've done lots of research, read hundreds of reviews, know the return and warranty policies, etc. We've ruled out an inner spring mattress. I've got a good feel for the various memory foam options - Tempurpedic, Bed in a Box, etc. But I'd like some reviews specifically from the peas about Sleep Number. I really liked the p5 in the store, but again, I am concerned that we will sink too much once we sleep on it.

We've had ours since 2005. We love it because I like firm and DH likes soft. Ours is a standard flat with a pillow top. If you and your DH are cuddlers, then it might not be for you as there is a foam strip separating the air chambers. If ours dies, we will get another one.

I like ours, we've had it for over a year now. I think it's the M7 (?). Has a layer of memory foam on the top. DH and I like different firmness levels so it works for us. Our previous mattress was a memory foam and developed big dents so it was causing back pain. Haven't regretted the purchase. Good luck in your decision!

We have one with a Temprupedic top and we love it. After getting the bed I found I liked a much softer bed than I had thought. DH likes being able to adjust his depending on how is back and shoulders are feeling on any given day. I would get another one if I had to replace this one.

I love ours. I was hesitant because I've had to replace memory foam pillows more often than I thought I should have. Anyway, we looked at Tempurpedic and Sleep Number and chose Sleep Number. We felt the adjustable firmness would be important longterm if the foam got flat. We also knew that we liked different levels of firmness. I sleep great on ours. If I had to purchase it again, I'd probably not buy the adjustable frame because we don't really seem to use it, however, if we had a TV in our room then I might. I've also had surgeries when recliners were necessary and the bed may have been helpful then.
I forget the number on our bed. It wasn't the top mattress, but maybe the step below it. It'll be two years in September.
Sick children in bed make for a messy clean up though and our mattress pad doesn't cover the side of the mattress/the split in the middle.

I had a memory foam topper for a few years It was making my back problems worse! I read about Saatva mattresses online in some back pain forums
I purchased the mattress/ box spring from Saatva after a couple online chats with a rep and a lengthy phone conversation I was very wary of purchasing a mattress online bc I've always gone to a store to try them out
I have been very pleased with the luxury firm mattress I bought from Saatva. They have a 70 day trial period I got my new mattress with in 10 days of purchasing it. It was delivered and set in my bed frame
I'm still within my 70 day trial I have never been so happy with a purchase Their customer service so far has been excellent
Check them out

We've had a Sleep Number for over a decade (same one) and we both love it. When we moved to this house, we bought one for our guest room and another one for us for our lake cabin. I would absolutely buy another one if we had to. They have a 20 year warranty (much better than any innerspring) and we have only had one issue with ours involving the pump six years ago. The customer service was outstanding and they really went over and above to accommodate us (when I was 8 months pregnant, no less!) so I will be forever grateful. I love their down pillows and waterproof mattress covers too.

I'm unimpressed. Dh's side broke a few years ago after only a few months and they wouldn't fix it for us. It leaks quickly and turns into a sunken pit. I always crank my side to 100 so really what is the point? He is the one who wanted it and he regrets it every day. We would not buy sleep number again.

We have had ours since 2005 and love it. We had one issue with the pump about 2 years into it and they replaced it with no problems. My parents have 2 at their house and we have good friends that have one at their house and also bought one for their travel trailer. We will never sleep on another mattress. I sleep at about 80 and DS sleeps at about 45. I have heard people say you can feel the foam strip in the middle but DH and I sleep right next to each other in the middle of the bed and have never noticed it. Ours has a pillowtop on it and is just sooo comfy!!

We bought the most basic queen sleep number bed 15 years ago - just a button for "more or less" rather than a number reading and the controls are attached by wires underneath the bed (they didn't have digital then.) LOL. We have loved it for every night of those 15 years. It was super easy to break down move from one house to another. I keep mine pumped all the way up and my husband keeps his somewhat squishy. It has held up really well. The fabric part of the mattress is showing some fuzzing from wear, but the chambers are perfect.

We've had ours for over 10 years and love it. DH likes a much firmer mattress than I do, mattress shopping was a nightmare! This was the solution that solved that problem easily. About 3 years ago our house was struck by lightening and the motor for the bed started making a high pitched squeal. I called the company and they just sent me a whole new motor, including a new remote. This was several years past warranty, too. The new remote was great because the upper half of the numbers on the old one didn't show up any more! Love this bed!

We have one, and I loved untill the remote that lets you set the firmness stopped working. It's under warranty, and I need to send it in, but the warranty is pro rated, so it will cost me $35 or so to replace it.
However, during renovations in preparation for selling and moving, we switched temporarily to our DD's mattress (from Ikea, not that expensive), and we are doing fine on it. I have back issues, so I was surprised that I have done fairly well on a cheap mattress, but it is actually fairly comfortable.
Our Sleep Number bed is packed and ready to move. I kept out the remote to get it replaced prior to moving. I am hoping once I can know what setting I am getting will enable me to love our bed again. I have hated playing the guessing game. It will inflate and deflate, but not show any numbers.

Love ours. For years my husband tried to get me to buy, I have a bad back. Finally, I got tired of listening to him so I gave in. Cringe $3K. ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS!

I think it's because DH is at 20 (a sunken nest) and I'm in the 60 and higher range. If we slept next to each other I would roll down hill. ?

I like mine. I've had it 2 years. I got a queen, but would never suggest that size for two people. You have to get a king. The queen is about the size of a full bed.
I want to love mine. I don't hate it, but I don't love it as much as I should have for the price. I had a bottom right hip issue and mostly it's gone with the sleep number, but sometimes it comes back and it's horrible - worse than before. It seems to be because of the mattress, but I don't know for sure.
I hate that mattresses are so expensive and you can't try them. I'd be tempted to try that Saatva since you have a trial period. Can't hurt, right? Unless you have to pay to send it back!

I want to upgrade to the new model with adjustable heads and heat. I have RA and the bed makes a big difference in my sleep quality. That said, I hated it for the first three weeks. Then I found the right setting for me.

We love our California King sleep number bed, it was expensive but we are happy with it.
My husband was convinced his sleep number was 90 but he tossed and turned all night. I reset his side to 55 and he sleeps straight through the night now. He was shocked when I told him I set it it at 55. We'll probably get one for our RV too.

We've had one for years and love it. I'll never buy another type of mattress.
The main thing about a Sleep Number is you can adjust the firmness so there's really no such thing as it being too firm or too soft. I personally would be wary of getting one with a tempurpedic top because I've slept on a tempurpedic pillow and a mattress pad on other beds and they made me very hot. It's like the foam holds the heat right next to your body so, while very comfortable, I don't care for it.
But other than that, I don't think you can go wrong with a Sleep Number.

We have 2 sleep number beds. One in FL a king size with some of the bells and whistles. We needed a new mattress for our house in NY, we bought the cheapest model queen size and we're happy with that one too.

We've actually decided to go with the Saatva Loom and Leaf. It's currently the highest rated/reviewed mattress on a couple of different sites. And we figure, for the price? If we hate it after the trial period is over, we'll just get the Sleep Number then. It certainly can't be worse than what we're currently sleeping on.
I really appreciate all of the great reviews for Sleep Number - we may even change our minds again before we commit this coming weekend.

Have you heard of sleeplikethedead.com ? It may or may not give you any more useful info about this bed than everyone ^ ^ but I found the site very interesting, and it has specific (aggregated) ratings for a lot of different features. I kind of loved that it had categories like pregnant friendly, motion isolation, sleep temperature, and a sex/love making suitability score! www.sleeplikethedead.com/review-sleep-number.html

We have had an I10 Sleep Number split king bed with adjustable base for almost 3 years now. It took me a long time to get mine adjusted to feel good but now I like it. DH loved it from day one. It is basically two twin beds pushed together. We have separate fitted sheets and one big king sized top sheet and blankets. I would recommend it but it was super expensive (I almost died when DH said ok to the salesman when we were looking because of the price)
Edited to add: We have NEVER had a problem with our bed being too hot or too cold.

Sleep number has a 30 day trial. If that's your deciding factor. We were told we had a 100 day trial period....but we would have to pay for return shipping if we decided we didn't want it. Here is a link to their policy: www.sleepnumber.com/sn/en/returns-exchanges

We've had ours for over a decade and LOVE it! We have the pillow top type, and don't notice the center foam divider, but the numbers on each side aren't that far apart either. This year one side of the air pump started having issues, but I've been too lazy to deal with getting it replaced. We just switch the tube from one side to the other if they need adjusting. Would love to upgrade someday to one of the adjustable position versions. We packed this one up and moved it no problems, and a few years ago ordered a new pillow top that zipped onto the old bottom again no problems. There was a curve over the first few weeks to pick the right number...

I think most of the brand names will give you a trial period and pick it back up for free you don't like it. We have a temperpedic, and we bought too firm the first time. Slept on it the full 90 days, like suggested and had to send it back. They picked it up for free.

I was trying to say that Saatva is so much less expensive that even if we decide we don't like it in a year, we won't be out much and we can get a Sleep Number then.
