We've had ours since 2005. We love it because I like firm and DH likes soft. Ours is a standard flat with a pillow top. If you and your DH are cuddlers, then it might not be for you as there is a foam strip separating the air chambers. If ours dies, we will get another one. We are cuddlers and have never had a problem. My understanding, though, is this used to be problem and they changed the design and that helped eliminate the issues. I forget what the change was. We bought ours in Sept of 2015 and I researched all the negatives and they were able to explain the changes they have made through the years to rectify the issues I was worried about.
However, they did say if you are super firm and your spouse is super soft, then there may be issues with the firmer one rolling to the softer one. We have not had any issues.
I blindly researched, wrote down the concerns I read about, we went in, we tried the bed, we talked about the concerns with the salespeople. We tried the beds out. We spent about 3 hours there. Then we went home and I researched some more (because after seeing the bed things made a little more sense). Went back and asked MORE questions then bought. Our second visit was 2 hours again. But for what we were spending the reason (DH's back issues and recent surgery) I wanted to make sure it was the best choice.

I like mine. I've had it 2 years. I got a queen, but would never suggest that size for two people. You have to get a king. The queen is about the size of a full bed. Is a Sleep Number queen different from another brand of queen bed?

Also, if within your trial period you have any qualms they will work with you to try to customize the bed to suit needs. They DO NOT want these beds sent back. They sent us a different foam to try because we weren't set on keeping the bed. The second foam did the trick.
We really like ours.

Is a Sleep Number queen different from another brand of queen bed? Our queen is the same as our old queen- which my son now uses. (pre our king) We actually downgraded from our king to a queen this time.

This got me thinking. . . what do they do with the mattresses that people return during the trial period?
Ick.

We got the king size adjustable with the split in the middle. It may have been better with just one mattress, but then you both have to want to sit up or lie down. We hated it. Hated, hated, hated it. We could never find the right setting, and it frankly felt like sleeping on a camp air mattress. We returned it, but they wouldn't take back the adjustable bases. We had to pay $3000 for them. They will work on any adjustable mattress, but we have decided to stick with regular. If you know anyone who wants adjustable bases, they are for sale at a deep discount!

I had a memory foam topper for a few years It was making my back problems worse! I read about Saatva mattresses online in some back pain forums I purchased the mattress/ box spring from Saatva after a couple online chats with a rep and a lengthy phone conversation I was very wary of purchasing a mattress online bc I've always gone to a store to try them out I have been very pleased with the luxury firm mattress I bought from Saatva. They have a 70 day trial period I got my new mattress with in 10 days of purchasing it. It was delivered and set in my bed frame I'm still within my 70 day trial I have never been so happy with a purchase Their customer service so far has been excellent Check them out We ordered a bed from them and we like it too. Great customer service.

The salesperson told me that they are destroyed. Might depend on the state. Our Carsons outlet sells the returned beds at a discount.

This got me thinking. . . what do they do with the mattresses that people return during the trial period? Ick. I would guess they reuse the innerds but dispose of the outter part. They may dispose of the entire thing.

I would also suggest if you are any good at reading directions and putting things together, bypass the service they offer to put it together for you and do it yourself. DH and DS16 put our together and had no trouble. It seems overwhelming but isn't hard, really.

We know the owner of a local mattress store. Returns have to destroyed. I do know that when a local hotel replaces mattresses, they have donated to an agency that serves the needy.

I was trying to say that Saatva is so much less expensive that even if we decide we don't like it in a year, we won't be out much and we can get a Sleep Number then. Will you let me know how you like it. I desperately need a new mattress and the SleepNumber is way out of my budget. I'm tempted to order a Saatva. I need to do some reading up and may give them a call.
