Please keep hubby and I in your thoughts. They dropped the news on us yesterday that they have sold our part of the company and are getting out of the business all together. There stating we have probably until Sept before everything is final. As the usual we will have more information following, but I just want an end date. Very nerve wracking when you are the sole provider and having to think about finding another job, that is also going to work around my PT job. It's just all very overwhelming right now. I went through the same thing almost 8 years ago to the date.
We have been riding the SSDI rollercoaster with hubby for 2 years this June as he got hurt at work 11 years ago. The dr. told him 3 years ago that he could no longer hold a job due to the injury and had to quit that day. We've already been denied twice. First time was the usual denial, 2nd time SSDI said they didn't have the required paperwork even though our lawyer proved to them they did, so now here we are almost 18 months later. Someone up there sure is looking out for us as when I checked the mail yesterday, after having a complete melt down when I got home, there was paperwork from SSDI and they are getting ready to review his case with the judge. Lawyer says we have one of the strongest cases he has seen, but there is that little voice in my head that keeps putting those negative thoughts there. I know they are seeing his age (42) and saying there is no reason this person can't work. Of course it's written in the Work Comp documents of the settlement that he is not to be working and if he does they will not pay for his surgeries, RX, etc
I don't know how much more at this point that I can take. Woke up this morning when the alarm went of at 3:30 wondering why am I even doing this. You can't tell us that it's business as usual and expect everyone to go along with it. It'll be interesting to see the uptick in sick time that is being used now

Sorry to hear this. Is there any chance that the new owners will keep the current staff. Being in limbo sucks and so does the Social Security Administration. It's complete BS that virtually everyone gets turned down the first time. It shouldn't take years for someone who is unable to work because of a work related injury that is well documented. Good luck.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I understand too the dilemma of finding a job that works for a challenging schedule. I lost my job recently and while I did find another quickly, it's a horrible schedule for family time.
I'm trying to find one that will let me car share with at least one teenager (meaning I would work nights somewhere) but that hasn't happened yet.
I hope you find something that works out soon.

Praying. I have swam in the turbulent ocean of can't we just get a break so many times. We are currently above the waves, but they are so close I can see them. Peace.

I'm sorry for your bad news and wish you all the best in lining up new work.
And I bet your husband's disability will come through soon. They make you go through all these paces but it sounds like his case is rock solid.
good luck!!

The good news is that when approved, they will backdate the benefits and you should get a nice little check. Also, DH was 37 when his claim was approved. And it was not even work related. His age should not be a problem.
