DD and I are going to visit my mom and step-dad for the month of June. We are all very excited. Well, I bought the tickets yesterday and sprung for first class. I'm going to keep it a surprise but I'm so excited and I know she's going to love it! I just had to share b/c there really isn't anybody else I want to tell

What a fun surprise. How long is the flight, will you have the lay flat beds?

We flew to Florida in January and I sprung for extra leg room (no first class) and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Enjoy your trip and pre boarding status!

and access to the airport lounge, those can be fun...especially at a larger airport.

I am not very tall but love getting the extra legroom (Economy Plus) seating, on United flights where it is available. I was once upgraded to business class for a 4 of 5 hour flight, and to be honest, I felt uncomfortable with the "privilege" of sitting there. It was very comfortable physically, but I felt guilty. Def. would not pay for the privilege.
OP, my intention is not to rain on your parade. I hope that you and your dd have a blast! It's just not something i would choose to spend money on.

Enjoy it without a single but of guilt! I upgrade whenever I can. I don't like people touching me. My son used to get mad when he had to fly with an adult, They gave him an upgrade to first class when he flew unaccompanied and he hit unlimited candy because he vetted his eyes at the attendants. Ha.
I always worried he was going to bother the other passengers but almost every flight home whoever ended up seated next to me came up to tell me how cool he was.
Enjoy your flight!
