I need the peas help before I take her to a dr. For the last maybe week and a half, my DD states that she has a sharp pain in her stomach about 1/2 hour after she eats. It doesn't matter what she eats or the time of day but it lasts for several hours. She says it seems to go away when she drinks a lot of water but she already drinks a lot of water through the day. I am not kidding, I swear she drinks almost 2 gallons a day on her own. She is almost 18. The pain isn't exactly center of her abdomen, but not on the left side either, more to the left of her belly button.
Any ideas?

My husband is going through this right now. Exact same place, about half an hour after he eats, lasts for about 2 hours, and if he goes too long without eating it gets very gnawing. They have ruled out lots through blood tests and ultrasound and have said it is probably gastritis, or possibly an ulcer. They prescribed him medicine (Dexilant?) and he has been taking it for three weeks now, and it is just starting to get better.
He is recovering from a pretty bad accident and has had a lot of stress and anxiety- his doctor thinks that that may be playing into it as well, and has just had him start taking cipralex to see if that also helps.
It has been bad enough that he ended up in the ER twice, but fingers crossed it seems the worst is over. They told him that if it's still bad in four months, they will do a scope.
I hope she finds out what is causing it. I would take her to see the doctor to rule out gallbladder and more urgent things.

Is she more stressed lately? I had the beginnings of an ulcer that presented as abdominal pain. Most times just hurt, but a few times, rolling on the floor type of pain. It actually felt better if I laid down on hard surface (floor) on my belly. I didn't think that would work but it did. I endured it until it was so sharp that I thought I was dying or having an appendicitis or gall stones. They did an endoscopy and it was the beginnings of a ulcer. Medicine made it go away. That and quitting that stressful job I had.

I'd have an ultrasound to eliminate gallstones. Mine were not typical symptoms and I suffered for a few years before mine were discovered.

I'm bumping this thread hoping for an update.
Also, I had similar symptoms at that age, and I'm pretty sure it was a stomach ulcer. Eating or drinking something such as milk helped soothe the pain.
Please let us know how your daughter is, and what a dr has to say.
