You know, a lot more stuff would get sold on Craigslist if people just spelled correctly. While planning DD#2's wedding, I search for "tulle", but have found I also need to use "tule" and "tool" as search words for the netting-type stuff.
I often see "rod iron" and "dresser draws" in the furniture section of CL, too.

Is there really anyone who says put the socks in the "draw"?
I don't get it?

My former boss once knew somebody that died of ammonia. She also knew someone that didn't want kids so he had a dissectomy.

I can understand if people in New England pronounce it "draw" instead of "drawer", since they drop the r from so many words, but I'd expect people to know what the word really is. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned.

my mother-in-law refers to DH's "cousints" on a fairly regular basis. and my kids all went to "kindygarden". but she is so lovely, i have no interest in correcting her and honestly, if i thought she WANTED me to say something... i would..... but i really don't think she does.

My mom always talked about how my grandfather, her FIL, died of "prostrate" cancer. And when she wanted reinforcements, it was time to call in the "calvary."

My MIL says that she hated her "threadmill" which is why she gave it away. And those bodybuilders take STY-roids to make them look like that.

I remember my mum complaining when I gave her a book to read that turned out to be "skee-fee". (Sci-fi...) She had no patience for skee-fee fiction.

My mother-in-law called her large window in the living room her pitcher window. It drove me crazy. I also enjoy a pacific idea and mines. Those are from ten year olds.

this weekend 3 girlfriends and I went on a wine tour, on the way back one started talking about her son (2) leaving a "Crown" in his pocket and turning all his laundry red. I knew what she meant and said nothing but another girlfriend looked at me and couldn't let it go. She meant "crayon" lol. 4th girlfriend said "crown" too.

Someone I love mixes up words all the time! She can laugh about it, so we can too. Some examples:
Napoleon ice cream (Neapolitan ice cream) The Pedestrian Church (The Presbyterian Church)
Her latest was to serve us Gestapo Soup (gazpacho soup).
She knows she mixes up words, so most of the time none of us say anything. I really think it is a glitch in her brain. But sometimes it is so funny that it is hard not to laugh and she laughs along.
As a small child I used to say aks for ask and could NOT understand why my teacher kept correcting me. I also used to say supposably even as a young adult because I couldn't hear that I was saying it wrong. I was actually grateful when friends laughed at me and pointed it out.
Another friend says pamplet for pamphlet. (a "p" sound rather than a "f" sound.)

There are some words that just will not come out right no matter how many times she's corrected! Some are just humorous and others have been !!!
