I remember coming across a tajeen on eBay and thinking if anyone was searching for a tagine/tajine (both correct) they'd be out of luck! I can understand if people in New England pronounce it "draw" instead of "drawer", since they drop the r from so many words, but I'd expect people to know what the word really is. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned. I pronounce "draw" and "drawer" exactly the same way, but I DO know which one is which! My mother-in-law called her large window in the living room her pitcher window. It drove me crazy. I also enjoy a pacific idea and mines. Those are from ten year olds. I think a lot of people here pronounce "picture" and "pitcher" the same too, if they're being a bit lazy and not enunciating correctly.

Old boss of mine always hung "pitchers" on the wall and bought paint at Sherman-Williams

An old friend of mine could not say "ambidextrous" if you paid him a million dollars. It was always "amphibious". He also thought the Disc-Go-Round store was Disco Ron's. Good times LOL!

My dad always ate sanriches for lunch. It used to grate my nerves but he wasn't the sort of man people corrected. He also always called our high school principal Mr. Lady although he named was pronounce lay-he. My Mom finally gave up trying to get him to say it correctly.

None of these will ever be as good as "flaming young." Never. Sorry, kids. Flaming Young is the best eggcorn that has ever been or will ever be.

I worked with a woman who messed up phrases as well as words. She was really not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but she had a bubbly personality and it was fun to see what she was going to mangle. A few that I can remember:
"Keep it under your belt" instead of my hat?
"Stay out of arm's way" instead of harm's way. This made sense to her because you want to duck if someone is swinging at you.
"Don't count your chickens before they cross the road"
Oh, and I once asked her if her rose bush was very prolific. We had been talking about homegrown roses versus those you can buy in stores. Her response: "Oh, the things you ask!" and she got red. She thought prolific had to do with prophylactic in some way. We were kind of talking about how to reproduce my pink rose so she could have one too.
I think she messed up every phrase she attempted, and with hilarious results at times. And she was born here and English was her only language.
I have been keeping a file of all the weird things I come across on Craigslist, but it is on my other computer. I will try to remember to retrieve it.

In high school I was at a friends house and Wheel of Fortune was on. My friend said "what are party gifts? At the end of the show they always say they have party gifts for the people who didn't win". I told her that he was saying "PARTING gifts" like you got them when you were parting. Nope, she INSISTED that he was saying party gifts.

I work with a lovely, sweet, incredibly smart and well-educated woman. She gets her words "dicombobbled" all the time! Her written communication is flawless, but her spoken communication is another story. I adore her and think the world if her, so I just smile My dh uses "alls" all the time... that one makes me batty!

While searching Pinterest for home improvement projects I have come across numerous lovely examples of "Wayne's Coating". Wayne apparently had great ideas for sprucing up a wall! ☺

I thought of the peas last night when a GF told me she's having a bomb fire at her DH retirement party.

cath4k Breyers has stopped selling Neopolitan ice cream--it's now strawberry chocolate vanilla...probably a smart move. I love looking at the Craigslist listings--the things people say... I've seen for sail as well as for sell

I know someone who hated having to cross the 'medium' in the road and always kept Neosporum in his desk drawer.
I know I've heard others that make me cringe, just can't think of them right now.
