So now I know that Disposable Cameras really aren't a good thing and it has been 8 years since our first DD got married. What did you do/have/use that you would do again for your or your children's weddings? As far as that goes - seen done at any wedding you've attended. . .

I used to work as wedding coordinator at our church...and the best thing about my wedding was it had no special music/readings and was short. that was great. I would have someone paying attention during the photos...my dress is folded under on every shot.
also, keep the photographer/videographer at the back of church...they can be obnoxious up front.

Personally I wouldn't do a hoop skirt again! :)Are you talking wedding only. I think someone to keep up with little ones in the wedding, separate from their parents if they are in the wedding or the groom/brides parents since they will be more interested in the ceremony. Like the photographer at the back.

My dress would have been MY choice. I caved and went with one my mom and aunts liked. It was not my style but that was 20 yrs ago. Everything else I loved since we got married Dec 21. My favorite was the bubbles, instead of rice it made great photos.

Photo booths look like a lot of fun! I haven't been to a wedding in ages but I see them on my FB feed all the time and the pictures are really great!

I got married pre-Pinterest. Oh how I'd love to do it all again AND incorporate all the handmade details I've found online since  (The only thing that sucked at my wedding was the cake. The whole thing kind of imploded and it looked nothing like the cake I ordered. But nobody cared, flavour was great...so, ah well!) |

Oh and we have VERY informal wedding photos. I love that we didn't to the pictures you usually see, because we're kind of weird and the photos reflect that.

Spanx...LOL my dress was full enough (and I was thinner then) that I didn't really need it....have to run to the ladies room quickly and pull up all the layers and then get through the spanx...oh my

We didn't hire a photographer. I thought having snapshots would be enough and we were tight on money. we've been married for 20 years and it's still my biggest regret.
For my dd we have scrimped in other areas so I could hire the best photographer I know. She's amazing and having to come in from out of state to take the pictures. I don't care. I want my dd to have the pictures I wish I had.
The other thing I regret is caving to my mom and sister on the bridesmaids' dresses. they looked terrible. My idea would have been elegant and beautiful. They looked like a cross between four year olds and girls headed to country hoe down. So very bad. (But hey, we don't have good pictures of it!) What my dd's bridesmaids are wearing was something I suggested to her and I asked her several times to tell me if it was what she really wanted. I didn't want her to feel the pressure to do what I wanted to do.

we paid for our own wedding so I was trying to cut costs here and there. When I saw the florist quote I about fainted and thought it would be a good idea to do my OWN flowerball centerpieces. Im crafty, right? WRONG! We ordered flowers in bulk and they were guaranteed to be full blooms... nope! They were tiny and I needed hundreds more to cover the balls. My MIL and I were driving all over town trying to find matching flowers! We ended up hitting the jackpot at a FUNERAL HOME! lol bad sign?? It makes a funny story now, we call it the flower crisis of 2012 but at the time it was NOT funny! Also, order the dresses early even the bridesmaids, they take forever to come in and thats the last thing she should be stressed about. here is a picture of the funeral balls lol  |

The main thing is I would have bought a real wedding dress and hired a photog for our courthouse wedding. We had a church wedding 18 months later and no one cared. I still have a bad attitude about that but I loved my church dress and our photog was wonderful.

I wish we hadn't let our parents steamroll over us on so many decisions. I've vowed I wont get in the way when my kids get married so they can have it however they want. But I only have sons, so no one is going to care about my opinion anyway.  I also wished we had picked a better photographer. At least not all our pictures suck. |

Entertainment for the guests during the cocktail hour while the couple shoot is in progress. It's actually a do again instead of a wouldn't - take the couple shots BEFORE the ceremony. I know it's not traditional, but we took 90% of all the pictures before the ceremony. The pictures came out wonderful, plus my hair and makeup were fresh. I really enjoyed our reception, and was really glad we didn't have to worry about pictures. At the wedding we went to a few weeks ago, the couple spent a good hour and a half, might even have been two hours taking pictures after the ceremony. It changes the whole dynamic, as everyone was clamoring to finally give their congratulations - which they did when the couple was supposed to be eating. And then they went right into the first dances and the cake cutting. I talked to her later, and she mentioned that she didn't feel like she had a second to enjoy her reception. |

Sad to say, I wouldn't have had my dad walk me down the aisle(he hadn't had a whole lot of involvement in my life). I would have cared less about tradition, and more about what I wanted to do. I wouldn't have had my reception at our church, and wouldn't have done the cookie cutter vows.

I would have hired a professional photographer. My MIL convinced me to use their family friend who would only charge me for the development of the photos. there are SO few pictures of me and my family- no posed traditional shots, and none of the wedding party. I truly regret that.

I would ditch the stupid favors that my mum insisted we have (considering our budget was small they were too big a chunk of it!) and I would cut out the invites for people I didn't know but were friends of either my brother or my mum.

I can tell you things I think are good. Photobooths. These can be rented less expensively if you can find a groupon for it. They always go over really well and the photos are priceless. Have each pic printed twice so the guest gets a copy & the married couple gets a copy. Wed Pics APPI've heard good things about this app. |

I would have spent more time searching for a photog that I really lived and not just the first one whose pictures I liked. In the end they turned out to be more formal and posed than I'd like. And it took like 2 years to finally get my album.  ? |

The only thing I would change is making sure the photographer ~ who did a fabulous job otherwise ~ took a picture of my family. We have lots of shots with me and my mom and dad but none including my sister and niece who were my attendants. Not a huge deal but I'm sad that I don't have that picture.

I would have hired a d.j. I made a cd with all the special dances music on it and it was left at the church. So when my brand new husband of a whole hour and I were going to have our first dance, it was the wrong song... I looked over to my friend who was running the sound system and he said that was the only disk he had... I found it later in my car after the honeymoon. It was supposed to be Etta James "At Last" but instead it was some Faith Hill song... that and tell my family the reception plans. The ceremony ran late because there was an accident on the freeway and people were late to the church. At the reception we had o'dourves and by the time me and hubby and some of my family members got to the hotel ballroom most of the apps were gone and they thought that was all there was to eat. We had a sit down dinner and it was very good but keeping family and the wedding party in on the plans helps too!

My DD married last Oct....DH and I gave her a specific amount of $$$ to spend, after that it was on her and her DF. We gave her plenty for a modest wedding. She opted for a pricey venue and an expensive dress and paid for a couple of people to do hair & makeup for the bridal party. She regrets the paying for the hair/makeup for the bridesmaids as they are all beautiful girls and quite good with their own stuff. The ceremony was outside and we should have planned the ceremony to start a few minutes earlier...as the FOTG was 45 minutes late and there wasn't time for good shots of the family outside after. There were a lot of pics we wish had gotten taken, but it didn't get done. The reception was in a beautiful space, but the lighting was dark enough that most of the reception pics were dark.
