I'm parked in a strip mall lot. There is no UPS store or staples or any other package store here.
A guy pulls in and parks his SUV across 3 spaces far far out in the parking lot. A few minutes later a UPS truck pulls up next to him. The guy gets out of the car talks to the ups driver then takes a package from the UPS truck and put it in his SUV. They both leave. I only noticed all of this because they did this literally right in front of my car. I couldn't miss it unless I closed my eyes.
I'm Like WTH just happened?
Drug deal? Package theft?
No big deal I've watched too many police shows on TV?

I vote not suspicious. I have had a client who missed a delivery call the company, who put her in touch with the driver, and she was able to meet him along his route. I bet that's what happened.

Guy arranged with his usual driver to meet and get package he needed but wasn't going to be available at the usual delivery time? Guy needed package he mailed back? Driver delivered package to wrong locale and was correcting his mistake? Clearly they weren't trying to hide their behavior so I wouldn't give it another thought...except that now we will never know and that makes peas crazy.

Wife of UPS driver! Not suspicisous. LOL. When a package is misloaded on the wrong truck, a supervisor often rendezvous with the truck to pick up the package and then deliver it to the correct truck it should have been on in the first place.
I'm going to tell my husband about this post though :-)
*the scenario blue tulip posted also happens, but the misload happens pretty frequently.

This would definitely have caught my eye, but given they were so open about the activity I wouldn't think it was theft. Thanks for the insider answer jassy.

His wife is a pure romance consultant. My girls are forever meeting their delivery drivers somewhere, can't have products on the porch if you have to run out.

No big deal I've watched too many police shows on TV? I work in a dental office. We have instances where cases have not arrived by the morning of delivery, usually due to an issue with the lab. The UPS driver has given us his personal number. First thing in the morning in those instances we call him, he checks the truck and tells us if he has the package and if he absolutely can not get it to us in time for delivery our office manager will arrange to meet him somewhere.

My BFF had a home based business and would meet the driver somewhere occasionally if she needed a package that was out for delivery but wouldn't get to her house before the end of the business day.

I would never have thought of so many scenarios for that activity. Who knew so many people were off meeting up with UPS drivers. LOL

That happens frequently with UPS, it's not suspicious unless the person who shows up to get the pkg is not the person who's name the pkg is addressed to (which actually happened when I worked for UPS, we ended up busting a pretty good-sized credit card theft ring).
We had a couple of cases of drugs being shipped as well, but those people came to pick theirs up at the center.

I vote suspicious looking, but no cause for concern. UPS drivers are constantly tracked.

So many normal reasons I learned something new today. I dont always work in the best of areas. In fact some are down right bad where nothing good or normal happens in the edge of parking lots. Today good area, so it was out of place.

I would never have thought of so many scenarios for that activity. Who knew so many people were off meeting up with UPS drivers. LOL When I was a kid ( 70's) my mom had an affair with our ups driver but that was why we got so many packages delivered. No parking lot rendezvous. I'm pretty sure my mom was one of the reasons they needed tracking. I didn't know what I found out at 10 until I was much older and found out about stuff and then I thought back and was mortified. Totally thankful I never actually witnessed stuff!! But she was audacious enough to drag me along to meet him for dinner once.

Completely normal. I know one of my bff's had to meet in a parking lot around here last year for an urgent package she had missed. They can be super nice about that!

Yes, several times in years past, in two different states I had UPS drivers flag me down that they had a package for me. Both were small towns, I had a home based business with my website so they often delivered to me AND one picked up my packages frequently since I lived in the absolute middle of nowhere. One of the same drivers here, when my road was icy, she'd call me and say she was going to be at the convenience store close to me at a certain time if I wanted to meet her to get my package, I did that several times. And once, I met a UPS driver so they could pick up a package to return in front of the bus station. They were there to pick up packages to ship out and if I met them there, I and the company I was returning to didn't have to pay extra. In fact, last year, I needed to return something broken but had to find a UPS driver to hand it too and I finally chased down one in my neighborhood! I'm sure that looked suspicious since I honked at him and pulled in front. I guess I've done a lot of suspicious stuff! I didn't realize how much until I started thinking about it.

I once was walking the dog in the neighborhood and the ups guy screeched to a stop and hollered at me by name. I was freaked out and asked how he knew my name - by the dog. She apparently stood in the front window barking at him every day as he went by. We've always had really nice ups folks. The mailman, otoh, is a jerk.

We have regular UPS deliveries and always try to be at the shop when we know one is coming, but our delivery guy hits us at lunch time, so we do miss him occasionally.
We have his cell phone number so if we do happen to miss him, we can call him and find out where he is and he will meet us to get our package. I have met him in other business parking lots and also in residential areas -- it could have been a similar situation?
