My DD is graduating HS in June and I need two dresses - one for the senior banquet and another for the graduation day.
Problem is I live in Japan and it's difficult to buy anything to accommodate boobs and hips here. I happen to be coming to the US next week and I have 2 days to shop.
I have access to large malls and most big name stores. I'd like to look online before I go, but obviously I can't buy online. I've already looked at Macy's, Nordstrom, and Dress Barn, Where else could I go for cocktail dresses?

White House Black Market, J. Crew, maybe an Anthro that carries their wedding line?

Ann Taylor, Banana Republic. Most of their stuff is workier, but there are still cocktail-ish dresses. If you feel like digging for a deal, you might find something at the TJ Maxx, Marshall's kind of places. Consignment shops in upscale areas (depending on where you are).
Good luck!

I don't know where you'll be, but I saw a lot of nice dresses at Belk, and I know Dillard's also has some.
I definitely think you could find a great dresses at Nordstrom.

Do you have a Burlington Coat Factory nearby? They sell a lot of those "Connected Apparel" dresses and some of those are cocktail and inexpective. Comfy and pretty much wrinkle free!

I bought one recently at White House Black Market. I spent a lot of time looking through everything online at Nordstrom and lots of other sites. I just couldn't find what I like in my price range. WHBM actually had several I liked.

Thanks ladies - I forgot about some of these stores. I'll be in MI, and I've never seen Belk or Dillard's, but I can definitely visit the rest.

If you will be in Southeast Michigan, Carson's is like Belk (they are part of the same company) and would have lots of dresses. They have stores at Partridge Creek (Clinron Twp), Laurel Park Place (Livonia) and The Village of Rochester Hills malls.

I also highly recommend a boutique in downtown Rochester called "Janet Varner." I've known several people who found cocktail dresses there, and great service as well.

I'll be in Auburn Hills, so intending to go to Great Lakes, Somerset, the Village of Rochester Hills and maybe Lakeside. I'd forgotten about Janet Varner in Downtown Rochester, thanks for the reminder. I'm going to the quilting shop downtown (if it's still open) so I'll pop in there. Carsons in the village used to be Parisian didn't it? I never used to go in there as I felt the styles were too 'old lady' - however I'll take a look as I'm meeting a friend for lunch there.

Sorry...Annabella is a pea here on the board. She is always posting pics of her cute clothes and she used to have a clothes blog. She might still have the blog. It's too bad she can't be your personal shopper!
