I love carrot cake, however I can never get it out because I'm allergic to nuts. That whole event would have been horrible for me, because I probably wouldn't have chanced eating anything. (Although it would be good for my diet.)

First, I really like your poll options and clever wording!
Second, I can totally see this happening to me so I understand. Since you specifically asked not to have that and there were other choices, they should have honored your wishes and picked one of the others. For me, I'd eat the carrot cake though it wouldn't be my first choice. I'd leave pumpkin pie, cherry pie, or key lime pie sitting on the table. Mother recently brought me a piece of Key Lime Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory. Seriously? She has known me now for over 50 years and has she ever seen me eat key lime anything? Plus, I LOVE chocolate and half their menu is chocolate. I didn't even have any money on that one and it still irks me.

The secret to a very moist cake is to use Gerber baby food carrots rather than grated carrots.

carrot cake is my absolute favourite, especially my mom's that she makes me every year for my birthday (which means I have one coming my way soon!) - nuts & pineapple, no raisins, lots of extra cream cheese icing what did the others at the table say when you were the only one not having any? I took the opportunity to get up and wheel to the restroom with my knee scooter since I knew there wouldn't be a line I'd have to stand in to wait. I put my napkin on my dessert plate when I got up so no one would put a piece on my plate while I was gone. By the time I got back, they had pretty much devoured it and there were three pieces left (cut into 12, 10 people at the table). The lady next to me (not the lady who dashed) said something about having a piece and I just laughed and said, "Oh, no thanks!"
