I switched from being a long-time iPhone user to a Samsung Galaxy s7. Have had the phone for 18 days.
First of all, twice I have gotten a black screen of death and had to reboot. The first time when I was by myself in an area where there is not a Verizon store on every corner, so I couldn't get help to find out how to reboot it nor could I call/use the internet to find out how to reboot it. So much for using the phone for navigation that day (or making or receiving calls/texts). The techs have told me getting the black screen of death is "normal and to be expected." SMH.
Secondly, 2 hours in to trying to transfer photos from the phone to my iMac and I'm ready to throw it against the wall. I have to download this app, that app, do this, do that... And I still haven't successfully transferred one photo yet. And the camera was the primary reason I got this phone!
Does it get better or should I just return it?

Why didn't you just upgrade to the newest iPhone instead?

I have the Samsung Galaxy s7 and love it. I have NEVER had the black screen of death. I highly doubt that that is normal. Maybe try a different tech.
I don't know about picture transfer as I have always had Samsung. I love the camera on mine and the pictures are fantastic

that does seem weird! I have the S6 and its so much easier to use than my S4. Thinking that you probably got a lemon. I would ask for a replacement.

I have the S5 and it has been nothing but one nightmare after another int he 18 months I have had it. The black screen of death is totally the norm for this phone, so I wouldn't be surprised in the least of that is the same for the S7. I hate Samsung. I am going back to iphone and not switching again ever. I have never regretted anything more since my blackberry curve.

As others have said, black screen of death is NOT normal for Galaxy, ask for another phone. As far as photo transfer I have no idea as I've never been a fan of Apple and don't own a MacBook. But I'm sure you can download an app that will allow photo transfers. Galaxy are great products, give it a little time as there is a slight learning curve if all you've ever used previously was Apple.

Thanks, everyone.
I did Google the black screen and it is apparently a very common problem. It makes me wonder if one day I won't be able to reboot and ill have an expensive paperweight.
I did download apps to try to do the transfer, but all I have so far is a headache.
I only have 11 more days, so I need to decide soon.
