We decided to try Carbonite to back up all my pictures and documents on my computer. Everything was going well until today. It's stuck at 83% and it's been on the same image. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening? At this point I'm not sure what to do. Start over? Thank you for any help.

I use it and I remember on my initial upload it took FOREVER! And did in fact seem that it was stuck but eventually it did move on. And I mean forever like three weeks or something to get it all backed up. I could use my computer as normal and I think that may be why it took so long - it was working in the background and trying not to take too much of the computer's power (I am so non-techy and don't know the proper wording). But anyway, when my computer did crash a year and a half later, I was soooo glad to have it. Once I got my new computer I just uploaded everything on the computer and that too took a long time but then it was all there and I was so happy!

Yeah - I remember the initial backup took nearly a month
Hope it's working for you now - if not, maybe contact Carbonite's customer service?

i use it, love it. it did take a really long time to back up all my files initially. but it's strange that it's not moving at all for you. if it's still broke I would call them.

Thank you everyone! I did a restart of my computer and hubby got it started again. So far it's moved 3% more. It was stuck at 83% and nothing was spinning.. It was just frozen in time. Keeping my fingers crossed. We started the backup on Saturday. I have over 16 years worth of pictures and then there's all my backed up files for my cutting programs and what not.

I used to. But after needing to recover my computer after a HD failure and experiencing this exact thing with no resolution, I switched providers.

Switched to Backblaze when my computer crashed and they wanted to charge $200 to send me a hard drive or I could download all my files which would have taken 3 weeks. Fortunately also had time capsule backup. I ALWAYS have two independent backups.
