DH and DS gave it up after last season. I'm hanging on by a very thin thread. I generally just watch it while on my treadmill. I just watched the last episode where Liv beat the ex-VP, Andrew, to death with a chair. Abby is now chief-of-staff for Fitz and Cyrus is cheating on his husband with the guy who killed Fitz and Mellie's son. I think. David was sleeping with Elizabeth and Susan, the VP who is running for President. The last scene of the episode was Liv knocking on Papa Pope's front door and him smiling a big grin as he said *Welcome Home*. I think that very thin thread just snapped.

I thought her beating the VP to death with the chair was just ODD. They kept showing flashbacks, so obviously they are going for some post traumatic stress, but really? Idk. it was just out of character for her. I am liking this season, but getting sort of sick of some of the characters and want them to progress a bit...move on.

It is far out there but we still enjoy it a lot. We love watching Cyrus try to out maneuver everyone in the election.
I was with Abby in the last episode. Olivia belittled her unnecessarily. Abby was doing her job to protect the president. Yes, she wanted to keep her powerful position but so what, everyone else wants to keep their power. I really thought that Olivia was purposely trying to wind Abby up to get her to do something. It seemed very out of character for Olivia to say those things to Abby.
I think this show excels at creating interesting, highly flawed characters that you still like. I truly don't hate anyone on this show except Papa Pope and he is such a wonderful villain that I don't want anything to happen to him.

I had some sympathy at first for Olivia, because of the PTSD and him egging her on, I could see how someone could do that. But then when Abby came in and Olivia told her to "never cross her again" that made it sound like she did it deliberately and that's where I have a problem because now she's no better than Papa Pope.
IDK how I feel about this show anymore. It used to be must see but some of the things they are doing with the characters I'm not liking. I don't know how I can root for Olivia anymore. I'm sure I'll continue to watch but I really don't care for the gratuitous killing that happens.

DH had treatment yesterday and when his oncology nurse came in she said to me "OMG. Scandal. The chair." And we were off and running. DH just rolls his eyes.

I have always thought Olivia was like her father, just the flip side of the coin. Now, she is going over to the dark side by being exactly like Papa Pope. I'm not sure I like where her character is going, but I will continue to watch this season.

Yeah....this season was a little slow, but I don't like how they changed the pace...the chair? really? I agree that now she's just like her dad.

I think I'm ready to give it up after the chair attack. That was just too much.
I despise Papa Pope and don't find it entertaining at all to see her turn into him.

Eh, i've been trying to stay with it....my dd has loved the show all along. She's not been as thrilled with it this season, but has stuck with it so I continue to watch with her. If it ended tomorrow, I would not miss it.

I went and pulled this thread back up because I just watched the wedding episode. Holy cow. As intelligent as Olivia is, she never fails to walk into her father's trap every time. Seriously? She couldn't see that one coming?
She shouldn't have beat the VP to death. She should have whaled that chair upside her father's head.

Sigh. The first two seasons of scandal were so great and now this is what we are left with? I agree I don't like what Olivia's character has become. At this point it is ridiculous that jake or huck doesn't kill Eli pope and free everyone from him. I mean he's threatented to kill jake so why doesn't jake just kill him!!!!
Im rooting for Abby now to take down Olivia. I used to want jake and Olivia together but he is too good for her. And I like Quinn but she is being wasted. At least there is less huck- he gets on my nerves.
I hope they find a way to redeem this show - and Olivia.

Just watched the last episode while ironing. At least now we know the hold that papa Pope has on Jake. But I would be delighted if he did to Eli what he did to his own father.

Can I have the cliff notes version of this last episode?? What does he have on Jake?? He took Jake in when he was younger ~ I'm thinking early 20's. He had a long arrest record for petty stuff. He *trained* him then broke him ~ Jake's father had been molesting his younger sister who committed suicide (I think because she found out she was pregnant.) Eli pounded it into his head that Jake let it happen, that he didn't protect his sister. After training was complete he offered Jake two choices, join him in B613 or live a *normal* life. Jake chose normal, went home and shot his father, returned to Eli and Eli said he would be his father from now on. Liv and Jake decided to stop the wedding because they love each other, Papa Pope told Liv he knew the plan and that he would basically kill Jake if she interfered with the wedding. (I think this is how it went, don't forget I was ironing. So Olivia told Jake to marry whatshername because she, Liv, doesn't really love Jake, she loves Fitz and always will. So he did. Shonda Rhimes only wrote the very first episodes of this season. Other writers have written the rest. It shows.

Yeah, I'm hanging in, but like a lot of you, I miss the days of them gladiating. A little sex & drama is fine, but I miss them spinning people's nightmares, kwim?
And the chair? Yikes. They didn't waste too much time having her follow in his footsteps, did they? She barely got the words 'I'll never be like you' (or whatever it was she said) out of her mouth than they had her making Huck look like Mr. Rogers. Sheesh.
And is it me, or does it always seem like Papa Pope & Jake are always sitting down to a family meal when she comes over? What's up w/that?

I do remember the guy she was imprisoned with and sorta bonded with turned out to be in on it. And I'm thinking she thought she was in a foreign country but it turned out she wasn't. I think. But I could be wrong.
