I have some stamps that are literally falling off the wood block so I plan to use ez mount and convert them to cling stamps. The ones I did before I removed the foam and adhesive before adhering to the 1/8" ez mount. I wanted to use the 1/16" this time. It says for rubber with foam on package. I wanted to know if the ones that pulled away foam with rubber still attached can be secured to the thin ez mount directly or do I have to try to clean the hardened adhesive off the foam first or will it stick ok?

If you try to clean the hardened adhesive off the foam, it will probably tear the foam and then you'll have a mess My 1/16" stuck to the foam fine, but mine were all still sticky from the blocks. I will say, though, that I don't like the 1/16" EZ Mount with existing foam AT ALL. The stamps all feel kind of unstable, like there's too much cushion or something. As I get around to it, I'm pulling the 1/16" off and switching to the regular EZ Mount. What I do REALLY like the 1/16" EZ Mount for is small stamps (as the only cushion)

I took the block and the foam off. If there is a residue, it won't matter as long as it is smooth. Clumps should be gently removed. I used the black foam directly to the rubber on about ½ of my stamps, because it was all I could find. I have since found a local supplier for the gray foam, which I now use. The reason I didn't worry about the black foam is I use my "Klingon" stamp positioner to do my stamping.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I will be removing the foam. These are all my large sized stamps. I have the black foam too but I stamped my image on the backs first with white Stazon. I have to buy my foam online like everything else that isn't sold in a big box store. Boy I miss my LSS.

Try stamping without any foam on them at all - most stamps I've tried (even big background stamps) work fine without any cushion at all. If yours do, you can still use the black EZ Mount, just put it directly on the rubber with no old cushion between. I usually use the thicker gray EZ Mount, but that's because my lss sells it and the black I have to order online. So I save the black for the tiny stamps, where it works better than the thicker stuff.

cbet is right, but I think stamping works better with some sort of cushion. You could put the cushion under the work. Another hint is to count to 10 before you lift the stamp, the rubber will release the ink faster than the paper accepts it.
