Good morning ladies! Friday is just around the corner and it can't get here soon enough!
Busy day today - one dog has a vet appt this morning for his yearly checkup and then the elementary school has their student showcase tonight. In between I'll be doing laundry and housework in prep for the weekend. The girls have a soccer game on Saturday afternoon and then MIL is taking all 3 kids for a couple of days. It's odd that they can now go stay with her...for so long, she didn't have the room. Not room really, just ample furniture. She lives in a small trailer in a retirement park and when FIL was alive they didn't have couches, just 2 recliners. And she only has one spare room and it's filled with crap so it's not usable as a spare bedroom. But a few weeks ago, she got 2 reclining couches and that's where the kids sleep...they don't seem to mind sleeping on couches and the kids love staying there because she spoils them rotten. So DH and I will have Sat night and all day Sunday on our own...and then I'll be on my own most of the day on Monday. MIL plans on bringing them back just before soccer practice on Monday afternoon.
Eating and exercising is still on track. I do a wellness program through my dh's employer and I took one of their coaching calls yesterday. If you don't meet their requirements (which I don't since my BMI is more than 30), then you have to take 4 or 5 coaching calls and meet one of their goals (mine was to lose enough weight for my BMI to go down 1). I met that goal within the first month so I just need to finish the calls (one more to go). Anyway, I lost 10 lbs from the last phone call 6 weeks ago. It just blows my mind sometimes that I've lost so much. Because I still feel like I look the same, even though logically I know I don't. My BFF told me yesterday that she noticed the day before than when I was walking away from her that I looked like a "normal" person...not overweight. And that I looked like her. It was shocking to even hear that. While I know that I've lost a significant amount of weight, I look down and STILL see a big roll of fat in my midsection and wonder if that will ever be gone. Because when I look down and see that it feels like it's the same old me...the 350 lb me.
Next year I hope to meet the wellness program requirements. My BMI is currently 33.6 so I'm getting very close. I believe my BMI was 38.8 when I started in January. The start of next year's program where they do all your numbers is in October...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Morning! Brandy, do you find the calls useful or are they more of an annoyance? I'm sure you can get under 30 by October! Your progress has been awesome.
We had turkey burgers last night for dinner, soooooo good. I didn't add bread crumbs because I didn't want the carbs, but I added soy sauce and some seasoning, I think the soy sauce is key. And of course some bacon on top, haha. They froze really well, and having them mostly frozen made them easy to put on the grill. Ground turkey and chicken is usually kind of floppy and hard to hold together while raw, so that worked well. I pulled them off when they'd been in the mid 150s for a couple minutes and that was perfect. I think waiting until they hit 165 might have dried them out.
Not sure about dinner tonight. Why does dinner have to be every day?? Haha. I have a freezer stash, so I just need to decide and thaw something out.
Our insurance adjuster is supposed to come Sunday, so hoping the weather is decent.

Also somewhat related, I bought some sporks on Amazon. Haha! I travel a fair amount, and I am really good about going to the grocery store instead of eating out or packing food for road trips. However, sometimes I am scrounging for silverware. I'll either forget to get it from the deli section or it will be really crappy, or I have to ask room service for just silverware and then tip, it is just a pain. Most foods I eat need silverware. The sporks even have a little serrated edge on them, are solid plastic but will be fine through TSA, and I won't be at the mercy of the store or hotel. They came in a 4 pack, so I'll keep one in my toiletry bag, one in my travel purse/computer bag, and probably one in my car. I'm very particular about what makes the cut for me to travel with, but spork is making the cut! It is too easy to eat poorly on the road and in hotels if not prepared. I also hoard little salt packets for hard boiled eggs, which are usually pretty easy to find at airports/grocery stores and sometimes gas stations.

Thankfully when I talk to these coaches, one of the first things I say each time is "I've lost more than 130 lbs, so I know what needs to be done....I just need to do it". All of them that I've spoken with realize then that I DO know what I'm doing. Thankfully the calls are only about 10-15 mins long so it's worth the annoyance. The payout is pretty good for doing nothing more than having some blood work done, filling out a survey and meeting their goal.

@brandy--you can do it! AN--good luck with the insurance adjuster. That sounds like it was a scary storm I'm a little frustrated with myself for giving into a craving so easily last night but am moving on. I had a very long work day yesterday (12hrs) and was bored during part of the day when one of the clients cancelled and my phone/iPad wouldn't work. I was in a more rural area but apparently there is something wrong with the towers and nobody's phone or internet is working right now. Anyway, I went for a walk and later decided that my one splurge of the week would be a cookie. On my way home I stopped at a gas station and for some reason decided that I wanted puff corn (I never eat that?). Ugh. I did eat all of the food I had with me though so at least I got lots of healthy food as well. I logged it all and ended up higher than what I wanted but not too terrible. Today should be a better day. I am fasting so am trying to figure out what to have for dinner that will fit with the calories I have allowed and that can be done in the crockpot since I work a little late again.

Since the scale isn't moving I'm not weighing myself until at least Monday which is my official day. I have been weighing myself everyday which is great when it's actually moving (it tends to bounce up and then down but this time there's no down) but now it's just frustrating me and making me forget the 'why' of doing this. I haven't decided what I'm going to do if it's still the same on monday (2nd week in a row). I might keep doing what I"m doing for one more week or else find a way to shake it up. I just don't know what that is. I did this last year and (slowly) lost weight. This time- nothing. I've been exercising 4-5 days a week (weights and cardio) and counting calories and they're healthy calories not junk. Avoiding sugar and most carbs.
Any ideas?

They switched the health insurance to a company that gives discounts or rewards for meeting certain benchmarks like being below a certain BMI, not smoking, cholesterol in the normal range, etc. If you don't meet those benchmarks, you need to show that you are moving towards them with these phone calls or other means. I am considered per diem so not eligible for the insurance. Oh.. I know they give money towards fitness classes and gyms. I would not mind having that, even if it is a small amount! susie_Homemaker, have you measured yourself? If not, start now. In the 2 months that it has taken to lose 6 lbs, I lost 2 full inches off my waist and about 1 inch most other places. I measured wrist, forearm, neck, chest, waist and hips. I've been measuring every 3-4 weeks, with the goal of measuring once a month.

My dh's employer has done it ever since dh started there almost 5 years ago. It's a fantastic program and I do think that it does help hold me in check because receiving almost $1000 just to be healthier is a no brainer. Their goals are realistic...BMI <30, good bp, no smoking or excessive alcohol, cholesterol within a normal range as well as blood sugar. AND to top it all off, they have 2 or 3 days AT his place of employment where employees and spouses can go in and get all those things taken care of. It took less than an hour last time to go through all that stuff...and it's FREE. I know the wellness program also offers a small discount for a gym...it's like $100 or $150 per year. But it has weird reimbursement guidelines and I don't have a decent gym within 40 mins of the house so I've never used that.

I wish our employer did a wellness program. Any incentive for people to get healthy is a good thing.
I got home late last night and decided to run anyway. I haven't ran that late (8pm) and I learned 2 things...my legs don't like running after 8pm and it also makes me wired and I can't go to sleep. Ugh!
The scale is moving for me but oh so slow! Like .50 lb a week. The first 30 lbs were relatively easy to loose - these last 20...not so much.

Happy day, my first week doing 5:2 again and I was down 2 pounds at my weigh in this morning. Hopefully I can lose 8 more before my cruise mid-June.
AN, I laughed at your dinner remark. My kids will ask, "What's for dinner?" And I'm like, "Ugh, we had dinner last night! I have to do that AGAIN?!". Sucks.

It sounds like the same program. They have several days set up for employees to do all those things and have even opened it up to those of us who don't get insurance through them. I would get it if I could. We can go but obviously don't get the other benefits. I just had my blood work done this week, so there's no need for me.

Dang brandy327 can we claim I'm a sister wife? We only get a $50.00 gift card with our wellness program. Today is a much needed rest day for me. The rain has been pounding all day, so it is good timing. I'm looking forward to a weekend with no kid activities. Dd has to work Friday and Saturday. I miss her terribly when she is gone.

Hey everybody! Checking in late today, I went straight to work at 8:30 - SO much to get done! I caved and ate a butter tart square today. I made two batches, and for some reason I think I used the wrong pan size, and they were in the oven forever before the topping part was not jiggly. So the edges were over done. So I was trimming the edges, but the corners were too bad to use (thank goodness I made two orders, one was for an order, the other just part of a sweet table I'm doing, so no set number needed). I caved and ate the brown sugary buttery goodness. But I redeemed myself at dinner - DH offered to go get McDonalds, and instead of caving further, I got their grilled chicken greek salad. It was pretty good! So the square put me over my net carbs for the day, but the salad filled me up and didn't put me over the calorie edge as well. I did also have a diet coke (I gave up diet coke over 3 years ago now, and was drinking regular pop until I gave up sugar) instead of the usual root beer I have DH get me. So no sugar (but aspartame) with that either. TankTop - raining here too. Probably partially why my head is pounding so much today as well!

I swear to all that's holy that I need someone to come and slap the damned food out of my hands as I'm prepping dinner. I KNOW it's because I'm PMSing. I've done it consistently every month at this time. Duct tape...maybe that would work. I ate 1/2 serving of meatballs WHILE I prepped dinner - which was whole wheat naan pizzas with mini meatballs. SO delicious but kind of high in calories and carbs. I didn't want the flatouts this time...I wanted something more like pizza crust. The naan fit the bill but it was 260 calories just for that!! Good thing I was busy today and ate light!

My company has an active life fund. Each year every employee has $240 in a fund to promote active lifestyles. I have used mine to buy my hiking backpack, an active swimsuit, running shoes, and I just used the last bit to pay for one month of my gym membership. It really is a great incentive and we are reimbursed on our paychecks.
Today was a great day for me. Food was on track and I got more exercise than I normally do. Thursdays are usually the hardest for me to be motivated but I packed my lunch last night and had a good day at work, so I powered through! And I walked to the grocery store after my work out so I earned some extra steps.
B - yogurt with granola and strawberries L - sliced turkey breast with veggies and lettuce in a pita pocket, string cheese, and a banana D - turkey meatballs with a mixed greens salad S - think thin protein bar

Does anyone else have a spouse who thinks they are being supportive but they really aren't? I am really frustrated with my DH right now. The other day I made a comment like, "I wish I could just lose 30 lbs in one week" as a vent. He starts in about "Well, how many times did you work out this week? If you did the workouts I told you to do (some ab moves that I told him were probably not on the list of things to do with Diastasis Recti) you could lose that." Now today he brought it up again and asked what moves were in the BBM workouts. I hadn't done the upper body yet so I said he could see what it was like while I did it. I was telling him that I was excited for her next 90 day challenge because I thought it would be fun to do it with others in real time, and that the workout would probably be a good challenge. He made comments like, "Why are you going to let someone else determine how hard you work out?" And "Why does it matter if other people are doing it as well, you have to be the one to do the workout." I was trying to explain that I realize that it is on me to do the workout but that I was just looking forward to the challenge and he just wasn't getting it and I felt like he was being rude and critical. I'm sure he would say he is supportive, but I sure don't feel it. Add to that, I am stressed about work and we also found out today that the compressor is broken in my van so it would be $700 to fix. Not worth it with the condition of the car. So, I will probably be looking for a new vehicle tomorrow which is anxiety-provoking to me.

For a long time though, even though he obviously knew I was trying to eat healthy, he'd bring me these desserts after work. He had a hard time buying himself something without getting me something too. I finally told him, you can go ahead and buy what you want but please do NOT bring anything home for me. And he admitted that he felt bad eating the desserts in front of me. LOL I told him he was sweet but I really did NOT want them and if he brought one home, I'd eat it. So he's FINALLY gotten beyond that. He knows that if I want something sweet/treat-like that I'll get it myself. He's actually stopped getting those desserts for the most part. He used to stop 3-4 nights a week but I can't remember the last time he stopped.
