Not sure if any of you has seen this (or whether any of you care LOL!) but a young kid by the name of Mason Cox, who played basketball for OSU, made his debut in the AFL (Australian Football League) yesterday. He is playing for the Collingwood Magpies, which is the biggest / most famous team in the AFL (I have seen it compared to the Dallas Cowboys if that gives you anything to go on). The match that he played in is the biggest match of the year (apart from finals) – it is the ANZAC Day match, and it drew a crowd of 85,000 people including his mum, dad and 2 brothers. Here is a link that includes a video showing his highlight reel, including a goal that he kicked with his first ever kick – pretty impressive! Mason Cox debutI hope he does well. Then look out, we could just start stealing your college stars for the AFL!

I thought football was soccer in Australia. That clip didn't look like football or soccer. Obviously, I need to know my sports better.

I don't like Collingwood at all LOL but his is a great story and I was really happy for him to do well. For him to come in and get a goal in his first touch makes him part of a very exclusive group.

There used to be an a type of hybrid international game played between Australia and Ireland but I'm not sure if it's still played. The rules of both games were adjusted slightly to marry up.

That's really impressive! Going from never seeing the game before to professional in two years. Wow. Sounds like a bright guy with a good backup career if it all goes south.

Sadly, the "football news" here is Johnny Manziel about to be indicted for beating the crap out of his ex-girlfriend.
I like your news much better!

I can barely walk down the stairs without tripping. Yet, there are people on this earth that excel at not only 1 but 2 sports. Simply amazing!

I wish they had that kind of football here! American football is SO slow moving.
