A little back story: Years ago, my exdh (at the time, still dh), had a midlife crisis (though not middle aged yet, but whatever) and kicked me & our kids to the curb. He just up and left, started dating girls ten years his junior (18 yr olds for goodness sakes), started partying, etc. When he left, he said he didn't want anything to remember us by, no pics, nothing. Wouldn't take the pics. Fast forward to now. He's calmed down a little. Sees the kids every once in a blue moon or so (maybe once a year, if it fits his partying schedule). But now he regrets not having photos. This is where the virtual pat on the back comes in. Ready? I've made him copies of the pics of him & the kids together. And found all the pics from his career travels. And dug up his childhood photos that his mom had given him while we were together but that he refused to take when he left. I've copied a ton of pics (all predigital) and will send them to him shortly. I know at most he will barely acknowledge the effort I made for him, even though he asked me to do it. So, if you please, virtual pat on the back because I will get a pat on the back no other way.

Pat from me, and I understand. I am going through the stuff from my old life, and when I come to something, photo, memorabilia, ect, I set it aside for XH so he can have them in 2021 when he gets out of prison.
I have heard the same comments: "He doesn't deserve anything", but I think it is just a decent thing to do.

::: pat :::: You are a better woman than I! So far the ex hasn't asked for any pictures. But to be honest, if he did ask I'm not sure I'd go to all that work for him.

If you hadn't made the copies you might have wondered if you should have in the future, but now you can feel good and forget it because you have gone beyond what was necessary.
