I have all this information from my new school district's website to go over. Different articles, tips, procedures...and even though it will take so much paper and ink, I want to print out the ones I actually want to read and not just skim.
I don't know what it is. I can spend hours reading on here. I can read blog posts on teaching ideas. I can search for things. When I try to read information online, I get distracted easily or something.
Who else is a hard copy person? Have you gotten over it? How? Or do you just suck up the price and resources and print what you think you need?
FWIW, I have a Kindle paperwhite that I read books on as well as a tablet and a nook tablet which I have read on without any problem, so it really seems to be just information. It would drive me batty to have an online textbook.

I am pretty old school. I don't mind reading websites for fun, but when I want a book I pick up a hard copy. When I have important information to me at work, I print it. I want to hold something and be able to refer back to it without scrolling.

I get lost in the endless scrolling.

I'm mostly online now except when I need to read something carefully for work when I print things off. I do 99% of recreational reading on my Kindle now because it's so light and convenient to carry.

I prefer hard copies of information when I really need to digest the material and be able to refer back to it. I love to highlight, take notes and book mark information. I print out articles and books for my online classes. I always print out memos.
I am getting better at using a digital book for information. It is harder and I really never go back and re-read or check my notes like I did in a real paper book. I have been doing several teacher book "studies" this summer using my Kindle.

Our new writing program is completely online and there are no copies. We are all getting iPads. While I am not thrilled one bit at having a while program online, I am even less happy that we are being asked to teach like zombies. Not going to do it.

Well, if it makes you feel less "old fashioned", my dd and I were ordering her college textbooks from Chegg and two of them had an online option. She said "no please, I hate reading textbooks online." Lol. She's 19 (almost). I asked her why and she said it was because she could never go back and find anything. With a book she can stick little post-its on certain pages, even making little notes on the post-it to say what it's marking.
I happen to agree with her 100%, but I had expected young people to go for the online option.

for certain kinds of information I prefer print so I can easily mark it up and hang it in a more visible place. It tends to get lost on my computer or device. Out of sight out of mind thing.

Me! I really prefer to print work-related things I need to read but I try to force myself not to

A few years ago, that would've been me. But, now, I find myself irritated by paper. When I get work papers that have important info, I use an app on my iPad to scan it to PDF so I can save a copy. I love having all my info at hand when I need it.
I will take notes visually on paper, though, at times. Then I just scan that, too.

I can read blogs and browse the Web for fun. But I like reading actual paper. Like someone else mentioned, I get distracted with everything being electronic. I like a good old fashioned book or a newspaper. I can't read stuff like that online. I don't even have a kindle, ipad or any of that.

I much prefer hard copies of things that I need to read, like insurance policies and school paperwork. I like being able to make notes or put stickies on important areas.
Also I like REAL books when reading for entertainment.

I read for pleasure on my Kindle, but work related items I prefer paper. I also have to take notes with paper as well. There is a lot of research going on about this very topic. Pretty much all of the research is saying that using paper for note taking increases retention rate over taking notes on the computer. I will see if I can find some links to this research.

I try to be as paperless as possible. if it's readily available online, I will chose to reference things that way. between my phone, ipad, and desktop, I should have it at my fingertips anytime, anywhere.

I prefer print for any factual information. Although my Paperwhite has totally spoiled me. I was reading a library book and got so frustrated because I was unable to adjust the size of the print and needed to sit in a well lit area to read!

Can't help it. I love cracking open a new book and smelling the pages. I still fondle scrapbooking patterned paper. I have a hard copy phone book that came through in a pinch when my cell phone wasn't working correctly.
