Goats (Even tiny breeds) need more space than that, and given their (extremely) inquisitive nature, a lot that small wouldn't offer them what they need. And if the goats I now are anything to go by, they would get into all kinds of mischief to entertain themselves. That's what I think too. A yard that tiny is going to make for some bored, troublesome goats. It's not in the animal's best interest to be kept in such a small space, smell or no smell. I agree, too small of a lot for goats.

That is a tiny lot! Absolutely not. Exactly. That's 554m2 which is probably the average size suburban section here. Once you put a house on that there's not much left. Goats belong on lifestyle blocks and in the country not in a tiny garden. In Auckland you need to apply for a permit for any 'livestock' if you live in an urban area on a section less than 4000m2/1 acre in size.

You license dogs? Never heard of that. All dogs must be licensed. You need to show current certificate from vet that shows the shots & dates of shots. They are also wanting to license cats.

I live in Seattle. Close to downtown (less than 5 miles) Our neighbors a few houses down have chickens. A few houses the other way, a neighbor has 2 goats. I prefer the goats. They loan them out to eat brush/bushes/etc for people in the neighborhood. I have no issues with them. The free range chickens pooping all over my driveway--not such a fan of those.
Also....cats and dogs are required to be licensed in this city. I may or may not have 2 inside-only fugitive felines who are breaking the law.......

I was just pulling some weeds in my backyard and told DH we should borrow some goats from our friend for a weekend.

I never needed one in Texas either but I live in Pa now and they are required. I also believe you can not have more than 2-3 dogs either in your home here in Pa.

Nope. We have raised goats here on our farm. That is not enough room, and could definitely cause "good neighbor" problems. Goats can be a PAIN!

I love goats. I lived on a small farm as a teenager in the 1970's when my parents were part of the back to nature, sustain yourself movement. I've lived in Annapolis, MD for the past 23 years. We had a goat named Ester and later some goat babies. They were so adorable, but boy could they jump! I remember my Mom going out to feed them yelling "goat babies!" and they'd all come running up to her. This must have been after they were weaned. They sure were great at getting rid of all of the poison ivy around the farm.
Anyway, I vote no way! Goats need much more room to lead healthy lives than that small area provides, was it 1/7 of an acre we were talking about? It shouldn't matter what humans want, we should first be looking at what is most healthy for the goats (at least in my opinion).
Debbie in MD.

Too little a space. I've had pet goat(s). They are awesome and wicked smart. But we live on lots o acres. My bestie goat was a female clean and as sweet as could be. A male goat can be pretty gross. And smelly. Damn testosterone.

I had a goat before and honestly he was just like one of the dogs. Very affectionate and crazy. I don't see why not having them in city limits with land. They aren't super noisy animals or stinky if well cared for in general.
