For color, true 4x6 and weight of paper, LOVE my picturemate charm. Bought Daughter a selphy for Christmas and the colors are definitely not as vibrant. Love that you can print wirelessly to it, though!

I bought a Selphy at the end of 2014 with some Christmas money... I hate it. I NEVER use it. Quality of prints IMO just doesn't measure up. I'm not sure what you would be using it for... maybe small planner pics would be ok, but for scrapbook pages, my vote is NO on the selphy!

I have both. I'd go for the Charm. Love the quality better than my Selphy.

I have never had a Selphy because I LOVE my Charm. Selphy does not use matte paper, and I prefer matte paper. My Charm is awesome.

I also have both. I also use both depending on what I want to print. The Picturemate to me is a better color quality when you put it next to a selphy. It is most noticeable with skin tones. The ink can sometimes be temperamental and require head cleaning. This is not needed with the selphy. I also notice sometimes what you see that is suppose to print with the selphy is not awakes what you get. Parts of faces have been chopped off. This does not happen with Picturemate .

I had the Selphy and sold it to get the Charm. I absolutely love the Charm. Better picture quality, true 4x6 photos and none of that breaking off the ends nonsense. I consider the Charm one of the best scrapbooking purchases I have ever made.

I replied on the other thread too, but just wanted to say the PictureMate is only a good option if you print FREQUENTLY. I had the original PictureMate and I never got good prints from it because I didn't use it often enough. I spent more time, ink and paper running the head cleaning process because the nozzles were always clogged. It was expensive and frustrating and I never once got a hundred prints from a print pack with the ink cartridge and paper. Eventually I chucked it in the trash because I got so mad I was just DONE with that thing! I didn't try to sell it because I didn't feel right taking someone else's money for something that didn't ever work.
For someone only printing occasionally such as at crops, etc. the Selphy is the much better option because there are no heads to clean, no nozzles to clog. I can print one photo and then six months later print more and never have to waste any supplies because the machine has been sitting idle forever. I have no problems with the print quality or the skin tones unless there are lighting problems with the image itself, and I can color correct for that post production. (At the pool for example, I had to color correct the images because they were very yellow to begin with due to the lighting in there.)
I wanted to point these things out because I think there are a lot of people like me who would only use a small printer like this from time to time as a backup for lab printing or for the occasional school or scrapbooking project, and having to constantly do the print head cleaning every time you turn it on wastes a lot of ink and photo paper which equals wasted money.

Any Charm users care to weigh in on Crazy4scraps thoughts on the Charm? I also am thinking of purchasing one of these but would be one to print occasional photos.

I do have to clean the nozzle heads when I don't use it for a while. But to me the beauty of the prints, the matte finish, etc., make it a favorite for me.

I have both. I prefer the way the pictures from the Charm look, but I prefer the ease of the Selphy. My Charm does not print wirelessly, whereas I can print directly from my phone to the Selphy. And as mentioned above, if I don't use the Charm frequently, the print heads clog. You have to use ink to clean the heads, which is a waste of ink. The Selphy uses a different technology and there are no print heads to clog.
There is a new Charm, the PM-400 that will print wirelessly. I haven't tried it.
