Is there any way that your brother can step up and be the go-to person on getting the repairs fixed correctly? While it won't make everything better, it will ease some of the burden. Not really. He lives farther away Maybe an hour or more and he has an elem. age kid. We are within 10 minutes of my mom.

doesn't think talking to a professional will help her and she says she will get through this in her own way. We, dh and I , have offered her to live with us. I think a change of her environment would be a great help to her,but she is not ready to give up her "everything". What if she just came to live for a short period.

I am so sorry that you're having to deal with this. It sounds like a challenging situation for all involved. This is just a thought, but would adult day care be an option? Perhaps your mom could go 2 or 3 days a week, just to get her out of the house.
I'm sure that the people who work in adult day care are trained to help people in situations like the one your mom is in. I think she's probably overwhelmingly lonely, among other things. It might be a first step in the right direction. And it might help you relieve some stress until the end of the school year.
