My 7 year old DS had a stomach bug last Sunday and Monday. He has been complaining of stomach pain off and on since then. Yesterday he was holding himself and said that his penis hurt. Just now he started complaining of his stomach hurting again and said it hurts low in his abdomen. But other times he says it is higher. I am wondering if it could be a UTI? What else would cause pain in that area for this long? It seems to be right after he eats something that he says something about it, even though he doesn't seem to have eaten a lot at that time.

Has he pooped recently? Seem constipated? Could it be gas? Exposure to strep? My kids get headaches and stomach issues with strep. Could be a UTI, but it pretty uncommon in boys. Is he circumcised? He's only complained once that it was his penis? Does he seem to go more frequently or c/o pain when he's going? Abdominal pain can be a myriad of things. But to ease your mind take him him, have a strep test done and make sure it's not anything serious.

Similar thing with my son at that age - turned out he was constipated and dehydrated following a stomach bug. Wouldn't hurt to call your doc or take him to get checked out as it could be many things.

Please insist on white underwear because my son was peeing blood. He neglected to tell me about it and I was doing laundry and *surprise* there it was. He had to be hospitalized for about 2 weeks. White underwear.

I asked him several times if his penis hurt more than just yesterday (he has had pain there off and on for a few years and the doctor has never found anything wrong). He said no. But he just came up from bed and said that it still hurt. I asked if he needed to go to the bathroom or if it was more of a pain and he said pain. One time he pointed to the area that seemed like it would indicate a UTI but then now he says it is more in the middle of his belly. I am confused.

White underwear. Yikes! He does wear a pull up at night and I haven't noticed anything on that but I will make sure to tell him to let me know if anything else unusual is going on.

My son had something similar when he was a little younger. I took him to ER as he was in a lot of pain and crying. I was told he was fine but because he had also been sick he was dehydrated and it is painful for a boy to pee when dehydrated. I was told the urine gets thick like a milkshake and trying to force it out the small tube is very painful.

My little guy was in Grade2 I think. He had this peeing thing going on and I was doing laundry one night and thought MOTHER OF GOD he is peeing BLOOD. What do I do? I was scared. So if this helps you please take my advice and look at his pull ups and underwear to make sure. Mine thought I would be mad at him that's why he didn't tell me. Mad is not the word. Terrified yes. Mad no. Mine has had about 3 bad UTIs so far. Boys don't get UTIs and yet my child sure did.
