I'm so fortunate that dh treats me great all year but Mother's day I turn into a queen. I actually am uncomfortable with all the attention but he and the kids love doing it for me so I relent a little!
I've been asked for some ideas what he & the kids can go shopping for tonight.
I've got nothing! No ideas!
Of course there are some big ticket items I'd love but we are saving for our 2 week vacation to Hawaii next year and paying for dh's daughter's wedding so big ticket is out.
Do you have any smaller items in mind that you'd love to get? Give me ideas!
Thanks so much!

Well I got my best gift last night. My older DD (who goes to college 8.5 hours away) surprised me by coming home for the weekend. I had no clue she was coming (although hubby & her sister were in on it).
I like things like Amazon GCs for books, chocolate covered strawberries, lunch out with the family. My girls are taking me tomorrow for lunch and pedicures.
Honestly, my BEST gift usually from hubby and the kids is that on Mother's Day I do no cooking, no cleaning, I can just sit and relax, read, spend time with them.

My DH who is not even the father of my children got me a hanging planter of flowers for my front porch. It is beautiful and it didn't cost him a fortune. And it was so nice to be recognized by someone who is under no obligation to get me anything. Now my kids are teens and they usually buy me a card and I'm good with that too. I just want to know I'm appreciated. That's enough for me.

No cooking & cleaning is my favorite part of Mother's day too! DH has the day off today and not only has he cleaned house he has done all the yard work. We're having my mom & dad over on Sunday for bbq.

A relaxing day AND a successful day for my dd and my dog We are camping and doing a dog show Saturday and Sunday. But we are only doing one class a day at the show. So we will be there less than an hour each day. We are camping a couple blocks from the show site which is our RV park. Dh already gave me my Mothers Day gift. A lovely new cat litter box Don't be jealous, you know you all want one too

I need to get back to making my list I used to ask for my perfume for Christmas and Mother's Day. That worked well.

Rocks.
I am coercing my family into installing a pebble patio this weekend, so I will be getting lots of rocks and hard labor and couldn't be happier.

If you put your mind to it, the list is endless for 'smaller items' especially if you want a Mother's Day gift you will actually use - what foundation/make-up do you use? Do you read a lot of Kindle books? Is there a range of make up you use currently doing a give-away with purchase? Gift certificate for a manicure/tyre change/colonic??? Drink at Starbucks, eat Krispy Kremes have a blow out at BK? FGS, you can ask for anything and they just want to give you something! ETA I don't know what your idea of 'small' is!! For all I know, small is a Mercedes instead of a Ferrari!!

I'm asking for a pedicure gift card that will get me through the summer. :-) I like receiving orchids vs. cut flowers. I like beaded bracelets and earrings which for kids can be found inexpensively. Another thought is for a flowering tree for the backyard.

I would love a pedicure. I got a cute painted pot with a flower from 5 y.o. DS. I have a mystery gift that's been sitting in my DH's closet for months. Brunch at a nice restaurant. 3 hours of me time at a crafts/art studio.

DH gave me an Apple Watch today. We have brunch reservations for us, the kids, and my parents on Sunday, and are headed to a garden store afterwards to shop for more containers and plants for the porches.

I got a new Pandora catalogue and circled all the charms I love. Most are under the $80 mark so I'm hoping the kids will pool together with DH and get me one.
Middle DD offered to take me to have my toes done, but DS has basketball and part of me really wants to be at basketball - Sunday is the finals for this tournament, so if we play we are playing for the semi finals and finals. Games I don't want to miss!

My younger son is taking me out to a late lunch. To a place that has free dinners for moms that just happens to be HIS favorite place to eat. But it is the thought that counts and he is 17 so I am going with a wide open happy smile that he actually wants to spend time with me and that is all I really want anyway. That and for him to mow the yard.

I'm not sure what I'm getting but I'm excited because my husband and 21yo DD came up with something on their own and I'll find out on Sunday. And they told me I'll also get a mani/pedi date as well.
We are moving my daughter out of her apartment and back home for the summer that day so we'll sneak in a lunch as well, I'm sure!

This year it falls on my son's birthday, so that will take priority. I'll be happy with acknowledgement.

I posted the boycott thread so you already know that all I want is to get out of cooking and cleaning on Mother's Day

We always go out to brunch. As for a gift, I ask dh and the kids to re-plant the annuals in three planters we have flanking our garage. I love the look, but don't like gardening at all. Sometimes they plant on their own and sometimes they hire it out. Either way I end up happy every time I pull into our driveway. :-)

To go to bed on Saturday with the bedroom window shades ALL the way down, and then to be left alone when the sun comes up NOT shining right in my face on Sunday morning!
That, and Lego. The Disney Minifigures just came out and I would love a whole set of them. Since I know DH won't take DD to the store to buy that, I bought myself the Lego Dimensions video game and hid it in the closet in case they don't get me anything which sometimes happens.

I am hoping for an afternoon nap! That's really what I want...time for a nap. DH did ask me what I wanted (gift wise). I said I would love a gift cert for a massage.
But I really want that nap....

I asked for a bird feeder and also to go get plants at the flea market. They are so much cheaper there, lol! I also want to get sushi and have a relaxing day. My friend gave me some chairs from her crawl space that kind of match 2 other ones we got at the flea market. The ones from the flea market have been redone and reupholstered by me and came out great. The table my DH and I redid and it ended up just the way we were envisioning. So I want to get 2 more of the chairs done this weekend if the weather cooperates

My kids usually make me a card or buy a funny one, and then we go out for dinner. DH and I don't "do" it up fancy for each other really. Not our thing. Sent all the mom's and grandma's cards.

Time with my adult kids. We will be driving to DS#2's house and he is cooking lunch for his wife and me. He loves to grill/smoke things.
