My DH said he needed to go to the city this morning to "get his tire fixed" and the kids went with, which is his laughable code for "gotta get a gift for momma".
I'm hoping for a bouquet of flowers and a zero gravity chair. I shouldn't say hope though because I'm pretty confident that's what I'm getting. I pointed to the chair the last time I was shopping with our dd and hinted that's what I would like for Mother's Day.

Since I'm not DH's mother, I don't expect anything from him....sure, when our DS was little, they could do something together for me, but our DS is 20 and my hope is that I get to spend some time with him tomorrow. He's moving out in August but between his job and his friends, I rarely see him now.
That said, DH usually takes me to my favorite garden nursery but the I think the weather is suppose to be nasty tomorrow, so that may be out.

I'm only a dog mom, but DH picks me up a little treat every year. My fingers are crossed for razzleberry crunch pie this year!

phone calls from our kids. One lives "across the pond" and then some, in the U.K., the other works on an ice covered mountain!

I'm so fortunate that dh treats me great all year but Mother's day I turn into a queen. I actually am uncomfortable with all the attention but he and the kids love doing it for me so I relent a little!
I've been asked for some ideas what he & the kids can go shopping for tonight.
I've got nothing! No ideas!
Of course there are some big ticket items I'd love but we are saving for our 2 week vacation to Hawaii next year and paying for dh's daughter's wedding so big ticket is out.
Do you have any smaller items in mind that you'd love to get? Give me ideas!
Thanks so much!
Mary K As a single Mom who rarely gets a gift for any holiday... how about finding a single Mom and having your DH and kids join up with her kids and create a wonderful day for someone else.

My gift is DD and SIL are on their way from out of state and will be spending 4 days here. I'm very excited. Then they will leave and go to another state to see his family. I've been cooking and cleaning all day. Tomorrow they will take us out to dinner. Then more cooking for SIL's birthday dinner on Monday. Before I knew they would be here, I was hoping for a Fiesta serving piece of some sort. Them being here and taking us out to dinner will be plenty.

I want my kids to clean the house and make me a nice dinner. Clean house.. or my car would be FANTASTIC. My daughter is making some fancy meal that cost me about $80. While I appreciate the thought and effort... I'd be happy with a pizza that I didn't have to fix or clean up after.

I have absolutely no idea what if anything will be done for me tmw. We had to purchase a new dishwasher this am that we hadn't been anticipating. DH will be spending a great deal of the day tmw installing the thing. Due to the expense, I think VanCleef and Arpel will have to wait. We do gift lists to make giving easier for dh and on my list, I requested 2 entire jigsaw puzzles. Hey Big spender! We'll see what tmw brings. The kids have been swamped w/AP tests, work and sports. I'd settle for everyone just having a good day filled with enjoyment.

What do I hope to get? Smiles and hugs My daughters enjoy spoiling me. I smile and enjoy the day even though it's bittersweet for me. I miss being spoiled by my LH, and miss spoiling my mom. Thankfully my mil is a sweet, generous woman. We have an amazing relationship. She treats me like her own and always takes my daughters shopping. I already have her gift too. I like the idea posted above about spoiling a single or widowed mom that you know. Wonderful idea!

I hope I get phone calls from my kids. It's dd's first Mother's Day and I sent her a card with money to buy a new swimsuit since she lives in Florida and goes to the pool often.

I had to laugh...my mom paid for my plumber yesterday as my mother's day gift. It is officially my favorite abby normal (for all you Young Frankenstein fans) gift of all time.

My gift is a weekend away. Tonight we are at Great Wolf Lodge and in the morning the whole family is running a Chocolate Run - chocolate covered strawberries at the aid stations, chocolate croissants and chocolate martinis at the finish line, etc. We'll come back to the hotel for a few more hours in the water park and then go out for dinner before heading home. I got a long run, church plant sale and some gardening in this morning before we left home, so yep - pretty perfect weekend!

I ask for a day off, no one can ask me to find something, do something, etc and I don't cook or do chores (most years). I also ask for no flowers because our anniversary is next week and I prefer to put the money into the flower beds so I can enjoy them all summer. So this year my DH and DD1 couldn't contain themselves and bought me a bouquet and chocolate covered strawberries. They are cooking today. Only one thing would make the day perfect and that is if we would finally see some SUN! I swear it's been raining for 2 weeks straight now. I have no motivation in this weather.

My annual request is a large fern for my front porch. My front door has a long glass window beside it, so I can see my ferns from inside and outside for months. The conditions on my porch must be just right for ferns because they stay green and get huge every year for me.
I would also love for my two children to take a quick picture together today. Maybe they will??!?!?!

Well, my boys asked what I wanted...and I asked them to straighten up my shoe closet. Its a mess. Just mate up all the shoes, and stick them in the box and then put them on the shelf. Im still waiting.....
DH always sends me a single pink rose for Mothers Day, that he signs the card for our daughter that passed away.
We went to lunch, and now I am curled up in bed - ignoring the dishes in the sink and the laundry.
