Weekend vent thread, post your vents here

I'm sorry.

My vent - I made a from scratch cake for my daughter's birthday today and it fell apart (not fixable) coming out of the pans. I'm going to have to start over - I had DH pick up a box mix for try 2. It does TASTE great though just...in lots of bite size pieces

I've saved the pieces and will turn it into something else- but I still need an actual CAKE for her birthday so...

Make or buy some frosting and make cake pops out of it.

My vent is that it was 90 degrees here yesterday so we had the A/C on, then it cooled way down at night so we opened the windows and turned on the whole house fan instead (sucks the cooler outdoor air in and vents the hotter air from the house out).

At 1:00 am I had to turn it off and run around the house closing windows not because it was raining or anything but because the smoke from the wildfires in Canada finally made its way here and it was coming in all the windows.   That must be one ginormous fire, I can't even imagine how bad it must be closer to there. I'm praying for all those who have been affected by it!

The size of the fire was described as the entire Manhatten & Brooklyn.

Now it is the size 1560 square kilometers.  HUGE.

My vent is that it's a gorgeous day outside but I'm getting over a wicked sickness and can barely walk across the room without coughing up a lung.

2 little vents just because: I spent all last weekend sewing a commission piece of garb. I've already been paid. I'm a hobbyist so my skills are rough. Anyway the garment was too small so I had to figure out a way make it bigger. I figured it all out, sat down this morning to cut new pieces, and cut right up the center of the garment which I had not pushed out of the way enough when I cut the new fabric. So - I have to remake the entire garment. Another weekend shot to hell making one thing and not for a whole lot of money.

2nd vent - tomorrow is mother's day and my house is out of control. But because I am working on the commission I've been sewing for 2 weekends now when I would normally do some housework. So looks like Mother's Day I'll be sitting in a pig sty house sewing for someone else.

My kids were supposed to go with ex today for an overnight. I really needed the break. Last night my son told me he was refusing to go. So I texted my ex and told him. He called me at 11 pm drunk to yell at me about how I ruined his life.

My mom struggles with mental illness (severe depression) and a traumatic brain injury. Currently she is having a hard time eating and is very, very thin. We're trying to help her by having her move in with us and strongly encouraging her to go to counseling. We obviously try to keep things positive and just be loving toward her as that's one area where she struggles...not feeling wanted (she grew up in the foster care system).

So what does my sister send her for Mother's Day? A case of Ensure. Boy that shows love, doesn't it?! My mom is not in a position where she couldn't buy her own Ensure if she wanted it. This was just a huge fuck you from my sister. My sister has fixated on setting my mom straight about eating well and exercising...you'll have to believe me she has no room to give advice. She is the *first* person to bawl her eyes out because someone was insensitive and hurt her feelings. Oh the irony. She's lucky she doesn't live within driving distance because I'd happily throat punch her right now.

I have plants for the garden. I set them down on the ground to water them. The little chickens got into them and found the Brussel spouts and grabbed one.

They spent the next ten minutes running dragging one of poor little plants with them!


The place I bought the plants at is closed today and nobody else seems to have Brussel spouts.

Right now mine is that I have the flu. And Mother's Day is always tough for me. I have wanted to be a wife and mom my whole life but it just hasn't worked out. My mom died in 99 and my grandma in 2013. It's a weird feeling not having any real family.

I have ants! The exterminator was just here last week and did the monthly treatment, so I hope it's just where they are trying to get away from that, but dang. I hate ants.

And dh went to the grocery today to help me out. He came home with 7 frozen pizzas. And Oreos. I guess we're having pizza for dinner. Every night. I refuse to go back, especially since he's pissed he didn't get an atta boy for grocery shopping. Sigh.

I just had the worst margarita ever. It tasted like bad lemonade, no tequila, all mix. It was bad enough for me to stop drinking it after three sips. The waitress never noticed. We were ready to have a couple drinks, watch the game, get dessert but my drink was so bad, we left quickly.
