I re-read a lot more when I was younger, I am not sure why.
I just re-read "Bean Trees" and "Pigs in Heaven" by Barbara Kingsolver and "Cannery Row" by John Steinbeck. I also re-read a lot of children's books - the Little House series, "The Golden Nameday," and "The Outsiders" Sharon Kay Penman books are always good for a re-read too.

It's interesting to see that several of the books others have mentioned are ones I return to as well. Gone To Soldiers by Marge Piercy. (This is such a big thick book that has been read by myself, my BFF, my DM and my SIL so many times that it's too fragile to hold. I need to buy a new copy!) You are the first person who has ever mentioned this book in my hearing - I loved it. Someday, I should re-read it as well.

Books that I previously re-read multiple times included: "Refuge" by Terry Tempest Williams "Dakota" by Kathleen Norris "Virgin Time" by Patricia Hampl "Too Loud a Solitude" by Bohumil (sp?) Hrabal "White Noise" by Don DeLillo "In the Time of the Butterflies" by Julia Alvarez "Blue Highways" by William Least Heat -Moon "PrairyErth" by William Least Heat-Moon "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

I've reread quite a few books -- some I have forgotten the ending and some I was revisiting old friends.
Gifted Hands by Ben Carson The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy Nora Roberts MacGregor series and Stanislaus series Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
There are probably more that I've forgotten about. Reading is the best mini-vacation for me.

I have reread many books. My favorites are like old friends that I have to go back and enjoy periodically. I do have a very full Kindle though and don't reread things as often as I used to because I have so many I have not read yet.

I used to re-read books all the time, then I had kids..... I don't think I've even read many new books in the last 5-8 years. But some of my favorites: 1. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry- the entire series but the original Lonesome dove will always be my favorite 2. The Outsiders 3. Little House on the Prarie- haven't reread since college, but probably will when my daughter starts reading them in a few years 4. Stephen King's The Stand- it is a very long book, I have reread it atleast 4 times. 5. The Doctors by Eric Segal, probably read all his books twice, can't remember 6. many books by John Irving
Books I want to re-read when I get around to it: 1. The Count of Monte Cristo- one of my favorites of all time, ever. 2. The DaVinci Code 3. Dr. Zhivago- thinking now that I'm older I might like it but didn't much like it in college 4. The Bible -read it once cover to cover, New Testament a few times. Not sure I could muddle through the middle of the Old Testament again. 5. I could probably re-read all the John Grisham books I read in the past as I think I forgot them all. I enjoyed them, but only have so much brain space to remember things. Maybe that why I re-read books, lol.

I love Dickens and Great Expectations is my favorite. I will admit that a lot of his books can be rough going the first time through...the language is so dense. It always helped me to read difficult passages out loud.
Seeing people mention Steinbeck reminded me- Of Mice and Men would be on my re-read 5 or 6 times list. Love that book!

{Adding books to my "to read" list...} lol I did forget a few. My memory was jogged when someone mentioned them: --"The Stand" -- I've reread this one many times, love it. -- "The Cat Who..." books. I have almost the whole collection of them on my bookshelf. I only buy them at yard sales or thrift stores, never new. (actually that's where most of the paperbacks I own have come from.) -- "The Red Tent" -- Little House books
I think I feel a re-read of Harry Potter coming on. Especially the first one which I think is my favorite because of the wonder of discovering it all.

I can only think of 3 that I re-read on purpose: Pride & Prejudice A Ring of Endless Light The Arm of the Starfish (both of those are by Madeline L'Engle) I have reread several books on accident.....I get through the first few chapters thinking, "this kind of seems familiar", but keep reading because I'm not sure and then get to the end and realize that, yes, indeed, I have read it before.

I love to re-read books, so much so that now I buy my favourites in hardback. It's like visiting an old friend again like someone else mentioned and at least for me I can enjoy it all over again since I have a terrible memory. I do it all of the time and I love the idea of reading Stephen King favourites in October. Recently I re-read one of his earliest books, "Salem’s Lot" that I hadn't read since the 70's. It was so good and soooo scary! I highly recommend it to KIng fans who haven't read it!

Years ago I read the "Wind" series by June Lund Shiplette. I owned all the books in the series, and re-read them. I would love to read them again now but I don't know what happened to my collection and see they are out of print. I will have to do an Internet search for them.

I love to reread Harry Potter. My books ended up lost when we moved. I've finally found some of them. Maybe I'll start them again since today us Harry's birthday. As for children's books, I have yet to get tired if reading The Tale of Despereaux or Frindle to my class. I've even read them out loud to my husband on car trips. *wanders off to find Harry Potter* I just read Frindle a couple of weeks ago. I thought it shared a great message. I do too. I haven't had a student yet who didn't like the book at least a little bit. I cry when I read the last chapter. I was thinking about that book this year. I've read it to my class for all 11 years I've been at my school. The boy who introduced me to that author had his brother in my class that first year. He graduated college last year and the little brother finished his freshman year. I think I'll always remember them each time I pull out my copy of Frindle.

I re-read books as if I am visiting old friends. That's a beautiful sentiment. I love it. I re-read: The Hobbit LOTR trilogy Laurell K Hamilton books, especially the Anita Blake series. I have a tender spot in my heart for Micah and Nathaniel. J.R. Ward books. The Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The Harry Potter series.

I love to re-read books. When I was younger I used to read The Robe by every year. I will probably re-read it again soon as it has been a while. (I HATE the movie!)
I've re-read
The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser Michael's Wife by Marlys Millhiser Maeve Binchy Sharon Kay Penman (English historical fiction) Barbara Erskine Lynn Andrews (early 20th century Liverpool, England) Morgan Llywelyn (Irish historical fiction) re-read often Peter Tremayne (Sister Fidelma mysteries-early Ireland) Kathy Reichs Katherine Neville re-read often! Hard to categorize - action, mystery, suspense The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery (I like it better than the Anne books)
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now.
I'm sure that I will re-read Lianne Moriarty, Jojo Moyes and Cathy Kelly but I just found them this year so it is too soon.

I reread the Lillian Jackson Braun "The Cat Who..." mystery series and the Joan Hess mysteries (she has two series), as well as the Harry Potter books and the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. Books can be old friends.

Right now my to-read list is way too long, so I am not rereading anything. The only exception is the Bible and other non-fiction Christian books that I regularly reference although I don't reread them. I read tons, and my to-read list is still at 500 books or more! I missed reading tons of classics, so I am catching up. Reading East of Eden right now, but I am only 10% into it. Lisa

I too have way to many books on my shelves and in my Kindle that I haven't gotten to yet. But I am itching to reread Harry Potter, especially in anticipation of the new stuff at Universal Studios Florida. I'm planning to visit in December, so I think it would mean more if I were immersed in that world again first.
I've re-read HP a couple of times, but listened to the audiobooks many more. I've also reread some Diane Mott Davidson books because I read a few of them at random about 10 years ago, and more recently I decided to read the whole series in order.
Others on the reread when I have time list: Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, Hunger Games trilogy, and I'm sure more that I can't think of right now. I'd love to reread The Stand, but I don't think I have the stamina for the Dark Tower series.
