To my studio, that is!
Now that I'm finally done with DD's kid birthday party (her actual birthday isn't for a couple weeks yet), I have to channel my attention to the boxes and boxes of stuff I want to sell at my friend's annual scrap/stamp/craft rummage sale in two weeks down in Iowa. Ugh. I've been putting it off, but now push is coming to shove and I need to get this stuff organized so I can get rid of it.
Hopefully when I'm done with the sale there will be a nice, big EMPTY space where that pile of boxes currently sits! I'm so ready to be done with this mess! Wish me luck. I'm sure it will get 10X worse before it gets better since that's how these things typically go.

Good luck! If I don't see Krusty the Clown for the next few days, I'm calling the authorities to dig you out

I've been tripping over these boxes of "treasures" for way too long now and it's got to GO. I was going to sell some of it at my friend's sale last fall and both of my friends that usually go too bailed on me. The hotel is too expensive to justify paying that much to go on my own, so I didn't go. I'm hoping I can sell enough stuff (at garage sale prices) to end up coming out at least a little ahead.

After spending the better part of the afternoons this week working on my stuff ( and arm twisting a friend to come help me this afternoon), I have about six boxes of stuff bagged and priced. There is still quite a bit of stuff to sift through and decide what to do. My tables look like a bomb went off! I really hope a bunch of this stuff sells, I'm so ready to be done with this mess!

I hope so too! If you're pricing to sell it, you don't want it. I'd donate anything that's left afterwards and be done with it!

I basically packed a bunch of stuff that goes together in themed page kit bags for $3, and I have a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff too all priced pretty cheap. I have another event next month, so if certain things don't sell I'll take them there. I can't believe how many bags I packed up and how much stuff is still left. What's nice about the sale I'm going to this week is that the lady who organizes it will take anything the sellers want to donate after the sale (it's all craft stuff). So for the things I really never want to see again, I can box it up and leave it there for her and I get a tax write off. She'll sell it herself at the next sale or put it on the rummage sale table at her fundraiser crop in the fall and either way the charity gets the money.

How are you getting to this swap so far away with all your boxes?
Sorry if this has been asked and answered already!

grammadee LOL! It's about a five hour drive from where we live. The ladies who organize it have been running it for a dozen years so they have a great following, so it's a great way to sell this kind of stuff. So much better (and cheaper) than eBay or whatever. My BFF and her mom usually go with me and we all have stuff to sell. Mom has a Honda Pilot and most times it's packed pretty full! BFF had a craft related business too years ago and she still has a ton of stuff to unload. Her mom is downsizing because she figures at some point she's going to want to move to a smaller house and she's trying to be proactive. I've finally gotten realistic and have decided after ten years of dragging some of this stuff around, I'm not going to actually do what I imagined I was going to do with it and it just needs to go.

crazy4scraps, that sounds like a GREAT sale and a good way to make some $$!! Is it terrible that I'm thinking I would love to shop at a sale like that, even though I'm doing my own (somewhat minor, compared to that!) craft room purge??

Is it terrible that I'm thinking I would love to shop at a sale like that, even though I'm doing my own (somewhat minor, compared to that!) craft room purge?? No, it's not terrible! My friends and I have a hard time not spending everything we make from what we've sold. We have to keep telling each other, "Hey, we're trying to DOWNSIZE, remember?" LOL. What's really terrible is that I keep trying to convince my friends that we need to have our OWN sale like this up here. Between the three of us, we could stock a small store and I'm not even kidding. I think it would go over pretty well where we are because at one time we probably had around 20 stores that specialized in stamping, scrapbooking and paper crafts (not to mention Creative Memories and Archiver's started here) and now there's almost nothing. It would take a while to get the word out, but I think something like that would do really well here.
