It's the day after the night before and I'm taking it very easy today. My tiny abdominal nerve block turned into a bit of an ordeal and when it was done my blood pressure dropped to an all time low. So, one hour in the office turned into all afternoon party. I'm a bit fried. Dinner will be leftovers, as I planned. If you need me I'll be in lalaland talking to the nice people in my tv.
What's on your menu?
Have very wonderful Friday. I declare Happy Hour as of now.

Oh no, take it easy, you deserve it!
I have a 4:20 post-op appointment and anyone living in Silicon Valley will know that's the crappiest of crap times to have an appointment on a Friday when you have 25 or so miles of freeway to drive home. Therefore, dinner is going to be quick and easy shrimp tacos.

Oh wow!! Take it easy, my friend!! It's Friday, which means the longstanding YOYO night here. There's baked ziti leftover from last night. I'm thinking a salad for myself. Or maybe a sandwich on a flatout wrap.

I'm sorry that your procedure left you frustrated and tired out, scrapmaven. Rest up! Yesterday's dinner ended up being changed because my lovely, not expired turkey breast was bad. It would have gone straight back to the store except for the 250 mile round trip required to do that. Grr! It traveled home in a Yeti and remained chilled. Tonight, we are grilling chicken thighs marinated in honey, ginger, garlic and soy sauce. I planning to have a tomato corn salad and roasted potatoes.

Actually, I'll hook up my tube feeds later today and that will tell me if it worked. They said to give up to 24 hours. So, I'm hopeful, cause so far my stomach has been comfortable for the first time in a few years. Your dinner sounds great. I love all 3 dishes. I'll be right there w/my fork!

Seems like a waste of time to me, but what do I know.

We're having a zucchini and black bean dish that I added 1/2-lb. ground beef to so my "dinner must contain meat!" people will be happy. I'll serve it with some roasted vegetables yet to be determined, salad, bread, and texas sheet cake for dessert. Take care, scrapmaven! I hope you're feeling better soon!

I hope you feel better soon scrapmaven !! Don't answer this if you don't feel comfortable but, I was wondering that since you use a feeding tube if you eat any of the wonderful food that you cook? I'm very open about my condition and thank you for your concern. Also, to everyone I never post about it in order to get sympathy or pity. I hate that. It's just what I live w/and since I don't eat real meals it's sort of weird that I cook each night and host this thread, which I enjoy doing. So, please don't think that I'm posting about my condition to have this thread be all about me. The Birdhouse Lady, I'm addressing this to the entire thread, just hijacking your question. So sorry. As to your question, I eat low-fat salty crackers and plain white bagels. Ta-da. I can't tolerate real food. I don't eat anything I cook, but I do enjoy the smells and watching my dh enjoy dinners. Of course, holiday baking is theraputic and I love sharing the fun. One of my sons is my cookie taste test dummy. I'm hoping that this procedure will deaden my nerves enough that I can start to eat a bit more, but I'll never be able to eat a normal meal. I don't mind your questions at all. I opened the door to this, so come on in.

Cheddar bacon burgers with spaetzle
Although I actually had to go to the office today. And I'm STILL stuck there so I'm crazy bored with an almost 2 hour commute home.

We're having pizza like we do every Friday night. It's nice to have one night where dinner is already determined by tradition, and I don't have to wonder what to cook.

Any chance I could get you to put mushrooms and pickles on those suckers? lucyg was unable to fulfill my request of mushrooms on her burger last week, but I'm hoping you will fill that void.

Rest up scrapmaven sorry you had a a rough afternoon yesterday. We will probably pick up some Zaxby's salads to eat by the field as we watch our boys finish the playoffs for flag football that got rained out yesterday. Then the finals will be played right after! Its long to be a long evening.

Thank you. That means a lot valleyview . I try really hard not to make my life story be about being ill. I laugh a lot and try really hard not "to take to the bed w/the vapors". This thread is like a mini-family. Of course, all peas are welcome to join our family, but it's home on the board.

I made my kids salmon earlier in the week, but I season mine differently, and I never made mine. Since I will be the only one home tonight, salmon it is. Last night, we ended up eating at Pollo Loco, which was delicious. I have leftovers for lunch. Lisa

And because my new stove arrived yesterday, I made a wonderful three course dinner.....not!
Pita with marinated chicken and the rest of the veggies in the fridge (I try to limit grocery shopping to once a week). And icecream for dessert (no, my freezer is still not empty, but I'm working on it. At least that's my defense whenever DH or the kids catch me snacking).

I got mad at mushrooms when I had to throw out the last package I bought, untouched. So that's why I haven't been keeping you virtually supplied, scrapmaven . And I hope you feel much, much better as the day goes by. I'm making baby back ribs (which I'd better get started NOW) and mashed Sierra gold potatoes tonight, along with a mix of whatever decent fresh veggies I find in the fridge. Broccoli and carrots for sure, maybe zucchini and cabbage, too. valleyview , I'm so sorry about your bad turkey! That just sucks!

Thanks for sharing scrapmaven - I hope things improve for you. Friday has become a fend-for-yourself night as I never know who is going to be home, but today is our anniversary. I'm not sure if DH remembered LOL. He's had 2 surgeries in the last couple of weeks so gets a pass this year. Things are starting to calm down and heading in the right direction, but I'm planning on postponing any celebration for a while. I do want something nicer than FFY so made the executive decision that dinner is coming from our favorite Thai restaurant (our wedding reception was at a Thai restaurant). If I have to meet DH at the orthopedic surgeon's office we will be getting a Nothing Bundt cake for dessert.

It has been a rough week - I don't feel like cooking tonight so I think I'm going to call my sister and see if she wants to go this Greek restaurant that I recently discovered in town.

I'm thinking tonight will be fend for yourself. I ate too much junk at school today (Field Day) and it looks like DH went out for a late lunch. I'll make myself a fruit/spinach/greek yogurt smoothie. The fridge is loaded up so DH can do as he pleases.

DH is ditching me tonight, so I'm thinking I may do breakfast for dinner. Scrambled eggs and fruit. My neighbor is also bringing Der Dutchman donuts (a.k.a. little pieces of heaven) home with her from work, so it's quite possible I will have one of those for dessert.
